M-Vave Chocolate Gestures

I've figured out how to use Cube Suite to program a "tap" and a "hold" for each of the four buttons on the M-Vave Chocolate, but I'm wondering if anyone has figured out how to program a "double-tap" to send out a midi signal to loopy pro. It is great to be able to use two gestures per button, but it would be even better if we could figure out how to do three gestures per button. Thanks in advance for any nuggets of advice.

I don't think I understand. You don't need to do anything special in the Chocolate for double-tap. Loopy Pro can be set to use double-taps. It can be set to detect holds too.

I like using the advanced controls so that holds are detected on-board the Chocolate and send different CC's. But that really isn't necessary to do since Loopy Pro can handle detecting the long-press anyway.

See my recommendations for the chocolate setup here:

If you care about latency, let Loopy pro handle the tap vs hold detection rather than have the chocolate do it. The chocolate's tap is first release rather than the tap. For some people that difference in timing is important. It is also more work to set up than using the Manufacturer Control setting.

  • Hey Wim. I read a few of your other posts and was hoping you would answer mine. You seem to know your way around this stuff.

I used the "Advance Custom Mode" in Cube Suite to configure the four buttons (A-D).

When I click on Button A, I chose Mode "Short tread (Bank A Information) Long tread (Bank B information)". In the screenshots you can see how I set up Bank A and B for short and long tread. I repeated this process for each of the four buttons, with Button A using channel 1 and 2, Button B using channel 3, and 4, and so on up to channel 8.

So what I've done is working to control loops in Loopy Pro, and if I could get a Bank C for each button, I could configure it for double tap. Should I be selecting a different option on the first screen of Cube Suite or using a different mode within Advance Custom Mode? I'm gathering from your message that all of this programming in Cube Suite is unnecessary, that it can all be done in Loopy Pro? If yes, how do I reset my Chocolate to factory settings and where in Loopy Pro can I set all three gestures for each button? Screen shots are always appreciated.

Thanks! I appreciate any help you can give me.

My recommendation is to just choose Manufacturer Control Mode in CubeSuite as mentioned in the wiki article I linked to . No other configuration will be needed in CubeSuite. It is a single tap to setup.

It’ll send an on message on press and off on release.

Doing it this way, you will minimize latency on simple taps and be able to double-tap and hold.

  • Thanks espiegel123. Your wiki article was very helpful. I've got it working now, just the way I wanted. Perfect! Wim, no need to respond.

Good call @espiegel123 's recommended method is best for most purposes.
