Cool. I hadn’t known of welding pliers!
Also a cool trick with the hat and flash light, because them wearable head light bands give me a headache, but they’re good if you’re in a tight space.
That extendable magnet has saved me frustration many times when dropping a screw or cutting insert inside a machine’s cutting room. Especially when dropping my allen key while tightening a VF motor that holds a new tool that i just measured. I already went through the trouble of spinning the collet to find and seat the motor properly. Keeping the magnet by the door, I don’t have to go through the process again cause i can continue to hold the motor in place with one hand while i reach for the magnet with my other arm.
I was trying to understand what you were saying about your industrial ruler. I’m assuming one side is metric, and the other imperial, but you seem to indicate otherwise? I’m assuming it’s what machinists call a “scale” in the states, with .1mm graduations for the metric side, and 1/32” for the imperial side.
Cheers
Yeah, it's both Imperial and Metric. Of course, if you need two scales, that's perfectly fine. Sometimes when measuring larger surfaces, I use my shoe size and make steps. 1 Sam Foot Unit of measurement is a size 13. I'm a size 13.
Then I do the required math, and get it approximately equal to realtime.
Or I can use the free Measure app that comes with iPhones. Using the power of AR.
I do keep a tape measure with me as well. But I don't always need it when working on industrial systems. Definitely on construction.
Hey nice vid
I didn’t know about welding pliers either!
I always carry these: https://www.engineertools-jp.com/pz32
Got me out of so many tight spots, especially removing those cheap screws manufacturers supply for example to mount VFDs to walls. Just grab whatever stripped head is exposed and twist it free- magic.
Also, I carry one of those Bosch Zamo measurers. They don’t like to be mixed up with other tools (even in a pocket with some keys you can damage the screen) but who cares about cracked screen, +-2mm accuracy measuring up to 25m, massive time saving measuring up room spaces. Also, they don’t make annoying beeping noises when you press the buttons, which I like.
