Loopy pro controlling Patterning 3

Hi all - new to the forum and can't find an answer to my issue in other discussions, so forgive me if it's been covered before.

Very simply, I want to create a set of buttons in loopy pro to allow me switch between patterns in Patterning 3.

I can set up buttons to send a midi cc value (so I can change patterns on the fly in Chordbud and Notebud - very handy) and I can see that Patterning has a simple midi learn feature, but how do you get it to learn a button press when you can't access the button - as it is hidden behind the patterning interface? I'm sure I'm missing something obvious. Is there another way to send the correct cc value to Patterning? I am not using a keyboard or any other midi controller - just the iPad touch screen.

Hope someone can help

I have Ipad 7th gen with IOS 17

Patterning 3's midi mapping is handled via its MIDI Input menu.

It brings up a panel where you can add and assign midi mappings.

Hi - Thanks for responding. I can see that menu, and I can select a parameter, - i.e. Transport - Pattern Select - A1

    Then the options underneath are

    Scope: Transport
    Parameter: A1
    Midi Assignment: Learning...

What I'm asking is how can I get it to 'learn' from a button that I have created in the Loopy Pro interface? I'm sure I'm missing something obvious.

You need to select Patterning as the target of the midi message that the widget sends.

  • Ah - got it. So I just set up a button to send a midi note to patterning on channel 16, then pressed it while Patterning was in learn mode and it worked! Thank you!.
