Backing up Bassalicious 2 custom user presets..

Hi all,

As the title suggests, I'm backing up my custom presents (around 40 or so)..

Within the app, I navigate to
USER PRESETS > USER BANK
tap the cloud icon.

I receive 'backup created successfully'

--but where is this file located please?

(i can't find it within Files, not can I get to it from within
Settings > iPad Storage > Bassalicious 2

🔎 any thoughts all?

Many thanks 🙏🏻

(ps I searched Google, plus the forum, can't seem to find useful info)

Hi. Have you tried iCloud Drive in Files? Also, check Manage Account Storage in iCloud from your Apple ID at the top of the iOS Settings. This shows apps that use iCloud directly, not through iCloud Drive.

Edit, corrected: I just tried this with Pure Synth Platinum from the same dev. The backups appear on iCloud Drive, accessible in the Files app.

Edit: I just tried this with Pure Synth Platinum from the same dev. The backups are indeed found under Manage Account Storage for the app. Note that the app must be enabled to use iCloud in Show All on the iCloud page. The bad news is that these files are restricted to the app (sandboxed). You can see them, and delete them, but you cannot access them.

Not even with iTunes or MacOS in the app's file location?
I guess I could try myself to see, but if I can get the info out of you for freeeeee, why not?

    [edit] nvm.
They are not accessible with iTunes/MacOS Finder. They are in the Bassalicious2 folder on iCloud for me.

You're right. I failed to check; they are on iCloud Drive, so you can access them from the Files app. Correcting my prior post.

I'm not sure what happens to that iCloud folder if you delete the app, but for safety I think I'd back it up elsewhere if I was thinking of deleting the app to reinstall it.

  • Ok guys thx.
Just looking into my iCloud Drive now through Files app..

5gb is the paltry scheme I'm on so..
Full to the brim (u guessed it).. 🤷🏻

because it's full, not all my stuff backups successfully. I'm ok with that.

I've found the Bassalicious2 backups folder.

There were 3 backups (.zip files) attempted to backup yesterday (error).
10-31-2024, all dated within minutes of each other. This will be the thing attempting to sync I guess..

-theyre each about 215kb in size.

I'm gonna fish those out, backup to Google drive, then presumably just pop those back into the same folder (sometimes in the future, if and when my iPad gets sorted).

    sound solid?
    👍🏻

  • I just want to mention that you can go into the iCloud Manage Account Storage section for the backup and turn off items that don't need to be backed up. For example, I have collections of files in GoodReader4 and FE File Explorer that I manage myself, so I don't need them in the backup. The backup size will shrink after a while.

If you are planning to switch to a new device, you can backup to a computer (Mac, or iTunes on Windows). That way you can be sure of a full backup of all your data.
