Connemara Fragments

I returned from a great holiday in Connemara earlier this week and while there I started a few speculative tracks.
I’ve added some (pretty average) videos and finished the tracks off today
This is the resulting YouTube playlist containing four videos.

  • I love this. Brings back beautiful memories of the family vacation to Ireland back in the late 60s. As I recall, we passed through County Galway on our way to Castlebar, where relatives still operated a family farm. We stayed at The Imperial Hotel on The Mall. Sadly, it’s closed now. One of my favorite memories was climbing Croagh Patrick with dad. I still have a rock from the little church at the top. It’s on my fireplace mantle. I’m looking at it now and crying a little bit. Have you ever been to Bunratty Castle? They have a great Medieval banquet. It’s the only time in my life that I saw dad get drunk… on mead! He was the life of the party. So many great memories. I could go on for hours. Thanks for posting this. I’m just a sentimental old fool.

  • I’m glad it brought back some good memories @Paulieworld . It’s a great part of the world. We didn’t get near to the places you mentioned.
We were right out on the west coast, nearest town was Clifden.
Here are the audio only versions but if anybody likes otters the third YT video in the playlist has a bit of otter activity at the end that I was lucky enough to capture with the iPad.

    Above average I’d say!

  • Excellent stuff here. I think the video was great, nothing better than real life natural landscape beauty

  • Very kind of you @MrStochastic , I see what others do and know my limitations 😊
    Agreed @yellow_eyez 👍

  • Hi Tony, very nice. You have a way with this part of the world. What is that lead instrument in the first track?

  • My goodness this stuff is beautiful. Music and landscape. I understand some of my ancestors came from that part of the country. I sure want to visit it someday.

Thanks for sharing these beautiful creations.

  • Many thanks Mike ( @LinearLineman ) I’m sure musicians au fait with this style of music would disagree but I’m happy with what I do.
The app is the free version of Respiro. It’s aimed mainly at electronic wind instruments but with a bit of twiddling it works ok with GeoShred. Might work ok with your keyboard(s).
There is a paid version but my working class Northern England upbringing makes be perspire at the thought of spending money 😊
Thanks @dav for the lovely words. You wouldn’t be disappointed if you visited… lovely country, friendly people 🙏

Hey, thanks for the Respiro tip. I loaded it up in AUM, change its midi control to VC instead of BC and AUM keyboard controls the Respiro sounds. Has a few nice ones.

@GeoTony, I’m going to upgrade my geoshred play to pro so I can use it in recordings too (auv3). Your great playing has sold me on it.

  • Absolutely enjoyed each one of these. Looks like a beautiful place to visit.

  • I should be on commission @Dav 😊
Hope you enjoy Respiro and your upgraded GS !
Thanks Mac ( @MadeofWax ), it’s bleak but beautiful, worth the effort to get there if that’s what you like 👍
