Help needed for simple (?) template
Hello there,
I need some help with loopy pro and a template I‘d like to implement.
I‘d like to have a song template with 3 parts (A,B,C - chorus, verse, Middle 8). Every part has e.g. 4 clips.
Every part has its own colour or/and is a group.
I have a 3 button foot pedal (and if its needed another spare one)
What I want:
Button A: „Short press“ should stop all other parts and start record and than play the first clip (if it‘s not empty just play) of part A (e.g. chorus) „Long press or double press“ should record the next free clip of that colour.
Button B: same as Button A but for part B (e.g. Verse)
Button C: same
It should be possible to switch than between the different parts in any order.
As well possible should be to have a imported drumloop in each part and switch between the parts while I accompany with guitar without recording.
I hope that‘s easy and I simply missed something, but I spend hours and couldn‘t figure it out.

This isn't an answer to what you want, but rather a different approach I use that might be adaptable to your needs. I'll see if I can find some time to work on something closer to what you want, out of interest in experimenting, so you may want to skip what follows.
What you're trying to do has been asked about before, so I think you'll get some answers closer to the mark.
The center of my workflow is thinking in two parts when it comes to my foot switch. Function 1 is navigating to and selecting the clip I want to focus on. Function 2 is acting on the selected clip.
Loops are laid out in a grid. Each row is a "Scene" and each Column/Color is an instrument.
I use the first two buttons for moving to and selecting the clip I'm focused on. Short Tap on switch 2 selects the next clip in the row, switch 1 selects the previous clip in the row. Long-Press on switch 2 moves down, Long-Press on switch 1 moves up.
The next switch is for record/stop/play. Press it on an empty clip and it toggles recording. On a clip with audio it toggles playback. Long-press toggles overdub if the clip has audio.
The fourth switch is more for utility functions like clearing the selected clip and toggling the transport.
This setup allows me to focus on which clip I'm acting on and then acting on it. Yes, it takes two taps to start recording a clip, but the tradeoff is worth it to me since I can't keep track while too many things at once while playing.
Thanks for your answer.
What I figured out:
Three parts (A, B, C)
Part A - 4 clips in a vertical row, grouped
Part B and C the same
First clip of the parts A, B, C filled with a two bar drumloop.
I have three buttons in the layout, one for each part.
The code on button A is: „select clip 2-part A“, „stop play group 3“, „stop play group 2“, „play/stop selected clip“
The codes on the other buttons the same, but than „stop group 1 and 3“ and „stop group 1 and 2“.
With that, I can record for each part the first clip (under the drumloop) and than switch between them like I want. That`s great so far.
But I have problems to record the other clips.
In the layout I made two additional buttons under the part-buttons.
One for the code: Long press „record or stop clip 2 - Part A (if clip has audio do nothing)“, „stop play group 2 and 3“
The other one with double tap „record or stop clip 3 - Part A (if clip has audio do nothing)“, „stop play group 2 and 3“
In a similar way the buttons for part B and C.
It works when I press the buttons on the screen, but it fails if I press the command with my foot pedal (Boss FS 1-WL): The recording begins not with the loop and if I press long again, the whole group will stop.
I tried to have the long press button just to select the wanted clip and I had another foot button to trigger record and play, but I didn‘t get it work right. The loop runs out of sync.
Another thing I want: Global start the session with click in and record with start of the first drumloop the first loop.
Great app, but overwhelming possibilities and not that easy. Even the order of the commands on a button is crucial.
@bates67 : some combinations of actions are tricky to map to midi tap and hold if timing is important. See this wiki article (the part towards the bottom) for some information to help understand why and what you might do to deal with it.
