Here's an original song I'm working on - Better Days (Will Come)

Here’s a demo of my original song, Better Days (Will Come). It’s about navigating the pain of a broken heart while holding onto the hope that things will get better. The lyrics reflect that bittersweet journey, capturing moments of both doubt and optimism.

The opening lines—“Waking up from a broken heart, everyday I’m wondering if I’ll be fine”—set the tone for a song that’s honest about the struggles of moving on. Later on, “Finally took all of your pictures off my phone” shows the progress, those small steps forward even when it’s hard. And despite the past, there’s a sense of resilience: “I know better days will come.”

There’s an emotional depth here, acknowledging that happiness can be fleeting: “Sometimes happiness comes in a wave, then disappears in a blaze,” but the refrain, “Better days will come,” brings a sense of hope and closure, almost like a mantra to stay grounded.

I wanted to capture both the sadness and the sense of looking forward, and I hope this demo resonates with anyone who’s been through tough times. Let me know what you think, and I hope it brings a bit of comfort if you need it.

  • And here's the version done on iOS. Still unreleased, but a lot more polished

Better Days will come (version 6)

  • Beautiful song with a great message. I like the conversational back and forth vocals, and the simplicity of the song. This is a song that anybody could sing along with and feel good. Everybody’s been there and can relate. Don’t polish it too much. Sounds good just like it is.

Appreciate it. Yeah, I keep going back to this demo even with the version I sent off.

    Thanks again for the feedback.

  • Cheered me up!

    Thanks @MrStochastic . Appreciate it.

@Paulieworld I actually used your post as an inspiration to go back to the song. I added a lot more vocal layers that dramatically changed the songs.

I even came up with a sick preset for Harmony Eight by Virsyn that I'll share once I get to my iPad.

It won't be the final version. Already sent it off to a producer, but I'll add some extra layers to it.

As an aside, I performed the song during my search for my new vehicle at the Airport Nissan Dealer in Ontario.

  • So, here's the updated cersion. I added a lot more vocal harmonies, different from the original, and beefed up the bass at certain points.

If you wanna skip most of it but hear the differences, at around 3:15 would be a good start point, all the way to the end.
