  • What, no comments? Let’s get the ball rolling folks. The more I hear Pianoteq, the more I’m tempted to get it. I would enjoy hearing this with some strings, like the previous collaboration. I recall you bought a great MIDI keyboard recently. Do you still have a real piano? There’s just something about a real piano. Our family piano was a beautiful Yamaha upright. I think dad would have gotten a baby grand if the living room was bigger. Our neighbor had one. Ironically, nobody in the family played it. I think he just loved how it looked.

    Nice track.

  • @Paulieworld i now have a Kawai Novus 10s. It has a real grand piano action but the rest is electronic and midi. No strings or soundboard. The action is beautiful and is what I paid the big bucks for.

Is it real? Well, half real.

  • That’s beautiful. I did a little research on those. Quite expensive, but as they say, you get what you pay for, and it’s a big part of your life. Go for it! I can see how it would be the best of both worlds. Great feel and you never have to have it tuned. I imagine the weather there makes tuning a regular thing. It’s cool to see where all the magic happens. Later, bro.

  • The Bavarian Lodge!

    First a little appetizer.
Scotch egg with homemade brown mustard sauce.
There is something special about that sauce, but they won't tell.

    She:
Sauerbraten, Spaetzle, homemade Sauerkraut, and the darkest, thickest, smokiest, highest alcohol content beer in the house.
They have hundreds to choose from and they change weekly.

    He:
Hunters Schnitzel, creamed spinach with bacon bits, smashed potatoes (chunky with skins), Bombay Sapphire Gin (shaken not stirred) with 2 Bleu cheese stuffed olives. I always give one to Karen.

Whatever we couldn't finish is my lunch today, maybe tomorrow, too. No gin.

Catching up on my listening this morning. Amazing that you make up these tracks on the fly, @LinearLineman. Always an enjoyable listen. Beautiful instrument.

Nice looking plate of food, @Paulieworld. I didn’t need to see that this morning. My wife put me on a diet over the weekend.

  • Thx @Dav yes,on the fly, but I do significant midi editing now. Sometimes just changing a half dozen notes makes a huge difference. Plus, editing individual note volumes evens things out and simulates a better pianist, with more control, doing it.

Here’s some more pics of the action and case. @Paulieworld might find it interesting, as well. The felt hammers are replaced by sensing carbon fiber replacements.

  • I really really enjoy this. I’m compelled to go down a listening rabbit hole of the classics that inspire this sort of thing. Can someone point to a starting place for searching? For example, Romantic period? Etudes? Nocturnes? Composers?

  • Thx @Blipsford_Baubie my classical influences are pretty straightforward. Beethoven (especially the symphonies), Chopin (recommended his Ballades, Preludes, Nocturnes, Waltzes),, Brahms (symphonies), Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Debussy, Copeland, Verdi. Others here will have more advanced suggestions. I realize I left out Mozart and Bach, but you’re referencing the track I posted.

    That should keep you busy!
