Very much enjoyed. The mention of bop, in modern terms brings to mind something a bit 'dancier' 😃

After the (slower than expected, but much loved well known) du du du! intro....I was expecting a dubstep switch up 🤪

But I know that's not your style 🙂

  • Very interesting, Tony. How did you use PM in this? Excellent Flugelism

  • Love this! Brings back memories of Virgil Fox at the Chick Evans Fieldhouse at NIU, when I was in college. He played the Mighty Wurlitzer! When he played Tocatta and Fugue, the whole building trembled. It was all Bach, all night. I remember he played something with just his feet. His boyfriend had to hold his shoulders down while he played. To each his own. None of my business. I was with my girlfriend we both dug the show. Bach rocks.

  • I really enjoyed this also. The flugelhorn fall-off at the end was cool way to wind it down. Nice sounds all together.

  • You’re right of course @dasgoods . I was desperately trying to come up with an alliterative title that linked jazz with something churchy and this was the best I could come up with… Vamping in the Vestry, Crooning in the Crypt… you see what I mean 😊
I didn’t listen to the Bach piece (anew) before I did this so just used a speed that felt right. Ha ha… I’m not even sure I know what dubstep is ☹️
Organists amaze me @Paulieworld . I struggle to co-ordinate fingers on one hand never mind all 4 extremities. I’ve seen Wayne Marshall play the organ at the Bridgewater Hall (Manchester) a few times… amazing sounds.
PM is playing the organ meanderings that start after the Bach intro @LinearLineman .
PM allows you to double the BPM over that set in AUM so it’s running at 180 vs everything else at 90.
It’s also set to use the Experimental setting which allows you to define strange note / pattern choices. All of this using a programmed chord progression. This makes it sound like I know what I’m doing but in reality I just mess about until something pops out that I like and then I try and work a composition around it !

  • Awesome @GeoTony! Cool Flugelhorn solo. Nice use of the Experimental Setting.

So accomplished! I am constantly in awe of your playing skills. I love the unpredictable directions this goes in, and the groovy vibe of it. I’m sure old J.S. would approve.

I learnt from an acquaintance of mine who is a church organist that, relatively rare amongst trad instruments, it is considered usual for organists to have sections of a piece where they are encouraged to improvise, so the leap from church organist to jazz may not be so great anyway! :)
