Weird AUM Midi Problem

Hey all,

I really need some advice on what the hell is going on with AUM.

Everything has been fine until lately, a few times I’ve had to reload a project to get things working properly but as of today this happened.

Here’s the problem, AUM will not receive Midi on channels 5-16. Channels 1-4 are all good.
I have Midi Monitor installed so can see that apps are sending data.

This happens with external controllers, mLFO, PatternBud and anything else I try.

I’ve rebooted my the iPad, and reinstalled AUM (thank god I backed up!!!) updated iOS to the latest version of 17.

If I load Animoog as a standalone app and set it to channel 5 I can play it fine with my Launchpad but if I do the same thing in AUM, nothing. Change it to channel 4 and hey presto it works. It’s doing my head in so any help would be gratefully received.

This is on an iPad M2, my old 2018 iPad Pro works fine.

Here’s a screenshot of an empty project with midiLFO running on channel 5 CC 7, you can't see it but that volume slider ain’t moving.

Thanks!

  • Have you perhaps set a MIDI filter in AUM?

  • I wish it was that simple, It's a fresh new project so all channels are active.

I've been using AUM for years and it's usually a problem free experience but this had me stumped. It seems to have fixed itself and this is how:

I opened a new project, created 7 audio channels and 1 midi channel. I placed 2 instances of midiLFO in the midi channel made 7 modulations to adjust the volume on each channel.

As before channel 1-4 worked but the others did not. I stopped midiLFO running on the working channels and hey presto the other channels started working. I loaded up another project and did the same with mLFO and its working again.

It's almost like there was a blocked pipe that needed a bit of a push, really bloody weird behaviour. Fingers crossed it doesn't come back.

  • Strange, but good that everything works again.
