4pockets RingsFX as effect for audio / external instrument

I've tried to use this as a pure effect a few times and hustled through a couple of youtube videos / read the manual etc but I can't see how you can use this as an effect without having it needing to be activated by a MIDI note - I'd like to run my guitar through it, as well as longer audio streams / samples.

Is it possible or not? (I'm especially interested as I'm also using it in Ableton, which infamously isn't as flexible with MIDI routing as our beloved AUM so getting a MIDI note into an audio effect is nigh on impossible...

    Unless something has changed, pretty sure you need that midi note input and there's no way around it. Would love to be wrong

    Ah that’s a shame, but I think you’re right. I just realised I can probably use the original models in VCV rack or mirack instead anyway…
