4pockets RingsFX as effect for audio / external instrument

I've tried to use this as a pure effect a few times and hustled through a couple of youtube videos / read the manual etc but I can't see how you can use this as an effect without having it needing to be activated by a MIDI note - I'd like to run my guitar through it, as well as longer audio streams / samples.

Is it possible or not? (I'm especially interested as I'm also using it in Ableton, which infamously isn't as flexible with MIDI routing as our beloved AUM so getting a MIDI note into an audio effect is nigh on impossible...

cheers,

Chris

  • Unless something has changed, pretty sure you need that midi note input and there's no way around it. Would love to be wrong

  • Ah that’s a shame, but I think you’re right. I just realised I can probably use the original models in VCV rack or mirack instead anyway…
