Could a Mozaic script achieve the "step components" functionality of OP-XY?
My plan is to use AUV3 sequencers or my BeatStep Pro with Mozaic processing the MIDI coming from the sequencer. Is this achievable in Mozaic?
Comments
Many of the step components shown here would require the Mozaic script to “know” parameters like sequence length, location of the step to process in the sequence, or note length (for ratcheting). Although not impossible, this would make it difficult to create a MIDI processor. You are probably better off to look for a sequencer or arpeggiator (hardware, app or Mozaic script) that has at least some of these features built in.
Doesn’t that Metropolis script on patch storage have a lot of this?
Yes, there are Metroplex
And MetropleXT-mini
The latter is my own adaptation with support for the Behringer X-Touch mini controller. It works without the controller or can be adapted for other controllers. And it uses less CPU than the original.
Honestly, I don't think Mozaic is up to that task processing output from Beatstep Pro or other sequencers. As mentioned, it would have to have information about the source sequencer that just isn't available to it. It can only act in real-time on the midi that is passing through it.
Metroplex and MetropleXT-mini are self contained sequencers I think, aren't they?
Neon Sequencer has many of the features from that screenshot, but it too is a standalone sequencer, not a processor for acting on inbound midi sequences.
Yes they are.
And they are excellent, I forgot to add. 😎
