I like this. Feels kind of Bernard Hermann at times. Wonderful critters, too.Have a good weekend, mate!
Outstanding! Lovely composition and orchestration. I’m hearing a lot of variety and dynamics that really holds my interest. What’s next? Hmmm. I wasn’t expecting that. Nice. Just for my own curiosity, how long did this take to create?
Thanks @LinearLineman @Paulieworld.
I started writing the score last week. I did the recording yesterday. Still needs lot of work, but for a draft it will do.
I got shades of Silence of the Lambs near the start. Some wonderful emotion. Love the start of the build up at around 3:20 or so.
Great images. Not sure why you think it needs more work? Yes, I’ve only listened to it on my iPad so far, so you might need adjusting for other speakers, but I would say that’s got to be close to a wrap!
thanks for listening.
A lot of the expression CC need to be adjusted, same with the vibratos, I need to simulate some legatos here and there that would happen in real life but don't when playing on a keyboard with basic sound libraries, and I need to adjust the note ON for a lot of instruments that have different attacks to match the way the real players would do in an orchestra: playing some notes just a bit in advance or late depending on what the conductor wants. There are also a couple of wrong notes.
And finally the reverb is just a basic do it all setting that I use for drafts. not great.
Well, those creatures were terrifying! Really movie-worthy orchestration skills on show here. Most impressive. I love that we live in a time when something that sounds this epic can be made on a hand held device by one person, and still be considered by it’s author to just be a ‘rough draft’. The descending cadence around 5 mins in reminded me of the ‘Devils Interval’ featured in the theme to Blood On Satan’s Claw I listened to again recently following another thread. I’m not trained enough to know whether I’m right musicologically about that, but it did remind me. Or maybe I’m just liking the bum notes you mentioned!
Phew! Glad my pieces are simple
