About listening to creations…

Apologies if someone has already posted about this.

I’m finding it increasingly difficult to listen to creations, as getting the following so often now and a restart does not always sort it out.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

  • Hey!

Have you Cleared Cookies? That seems to have helped. I would close out all tab of the forum. Clear cookies / history - Log back in. Should be fine after.

  • Did that. The problem remains on iPad iPhone and mbp

Closed out all tabs, cleared cookies, closed out browser and relogged back in? That’s worked for everyone I’ve told it to and I last did it a few days ago and worked fine.

  • It’s a YouTube thing, not anything the forum has control over.
I stay logged in to YouTube and to Google in my browser. I never run into that issue. I don’t know if that is why though.

I don’t know the answer all I know is:

    1. The YouTube and SoundCloud issues started at the same time for myself.
    2. I stay logged into YouTube and it continues to happen.
    3. I can do the clearing cookies and restart thing and it’s happening again very quickly! So I’m wondering how likely it’s to do with cookies considering I rarely have more than one tab open and the cookies shouldn’t come back that quickly when not looking at a lot of different web sites?
    4. I can get rid of it sometimes by clicking on some of the YouTube links shown then the back button and it then sees me as not needing to be checked, but that does nothing for the missing SoundClouds etc.
    5. I only started getting these issues around iPad OS 18.
    6. Sometimes just leaving LPF and coming back sorts it out, without any cookie or restart malarkey.
    7. I can press blindly on the blank space where the SoundCloud should be and it will eventually take me to the SoundCloud site to listen to the track.

Not saying these personal facts are not dead end clues, as sometimes what we experience can be different than others due to our differeing uses.

  • Yeah I still get this issue.

Logging out/clearing cache fixed it once, but when it started blocking again and I tried the same method it didn’t work.

I then logged in to my YouTube account - still no joy.

I noticed though that some videos work, while others don’t. I mentioned this in another thread, but wonder if the option to allow video sharing has not been selected by some publishers.

Same, I am logged in, have never had this issue, don't know if that's why tho

That's not the reason because when creators choose not to allow viewing off the platform, a different error message will be shown. I forgot what it says exactly, but it is not the message shown in Fruitbat's post above. Another reason why that is it the case is that some viewers encounter the problem, others don't. For example, I can see Joe's video fine (very good track btw @jo92346!) but Fruitbat can't. If the creator was not allowing it to be viewed outside YouTube, absolutely no one would be able to view it outside YouTube.

it is also not an issue with ios 18 or sequoia : I tried on an iphone 11 with ios 16, and my mbp is still under ventura: the same happens.

Maybe it is safari. this doesn't happen in chrome.

  • edited November 2024

@Fruitbat1919 : Yup, same here. I have noticed this on my SoundCloud postings here - just comes up as a black box / space, which nevertheless works as a link if I press it, but it is disappointing that my lovely hand crafted AI album covers aren’t being shared here anymore. I’m using Safari, IOS 18.0.1

I have this problem also with YouTube vid posts here. Sometimes they work, sometimes not.

Yes, maybe it’s a Safari thing!?

Just when it appears that one of the many solutions mentioned is repeatable, it is not.
    It seems to happen arbitrarily.

Conclusion: This is the first in a series of offensive campaigns launched by malicious A.I. actors in order to make the simple act of finding human content more inconvenient and frustrating. Some people have already employed A.I. accounts to scrape pre-existing human accounts for content, and repackage it as their own in a way that results with more traffic. The tech bro giants are enabling these PsOS because they know more accounts with higher interactions result with more ad revenue. The generation of young men are currently wacking off to AI generated content.

Please hold on dearly to the ancient arts and pass these skills onto your offspring. Those with critical thinking skills and fluid intelligence are now seen as a threat to the rich and governments worldwide.

😂🤣 Okay that's the funniest thing I saw all day.

Yeah, same as @Fruitbat1919 . For me it happens intermittently. Both on iPhone and iPad. When it does, I hit "quote" and copy/paste the link into my browser. I wish we didn't need this workaround, but it's a workaround.

  • I had this issue but when I paused my VPN, the issue disappeared. I contacted NordVPN support who told me to try their latest servers and so far the problem has not reappeared.

Sorry for the kind of Off Topic note, but actually going to the YouTube site or app to watch the video is marginally better for the content creator's channel. I try to do that when I can. For me, clicking on the YouTube logo in the video rather than the play button takes me there.

Sure it's a hassle, but the creator no doubt put in thousands of times more effort to post the video. I feel better when I try to watch at least a bit of any ads, and try to leave a thumbs up.

I probably consume 1/100th of the number of videos as most people though, so the impact on my effort is far less. 😬

Well said, this is the way

That’s the problem though, when I get the sign in/bot warning there’s no link to click.

Funnily enough all the videos are visible this afternoon though…just weird.

I'm curious what happens if you open a new browser tab and sign in to a Google account, then refresh the page with the video, if the video is then available.

If anyone wouldn't mind testing that, it would narrow things down. There's nothing that can be done about it from the forum's standpoint, but maybe it would shed a little light.

Here’s a workaround for me for playing the YouTube vids on my iPad. Don’t press the play button first or it will just go to the prove you’re not a bot screen and give no link. Instead, just tap and hold the bottom right corner of the embedded vid - a new browser window pops up with it on YouTube, and it should open in a new tab and play off of YouTube. At least I can watch YouTube vids posted on the forum again this way.

There's actually a lot of truth in what you've written. AI is creeping into our lives at a phenomenal rate. We're already reaching a new normal with AI being in every mobile device, even though it's currently used as a marketing ploy to get people to upograde to the newer iPhones and Samsung.
Hmmm....oversized antenna dish. I guess it makes sense. With the way things are migrating to being faster, and shorter range, a satellite dish would allow for long distance transmission.

But that's not my problem. Gotta make that RV music studio.

    Ah ok, that works.

Don’t click play, long press on bottom corner to select ‘open in background’, then back to vid on forum where it can be played.

Bit of a faff, but at least I can see the videos!

I have the same random issue on other websites, so definitely not Loopy forum related.
