ROLI M (MPE controller)
There is a new Roli? Roli M
Does anybody have it? Is it just the same as the last one?
I’m super curious if it would work well to map it to cutoff (and what other parmeters can/should you use?), and if anybody used the “M” with MOOG MODEL 15.
I used to have a sea-block, it could do some tasty things to the MOOG, but mine periodically glitched out! Ouch! Loud bizz blops, un cool..

Do you mean the PIano M? If so, it's the same as the old one (Lumi), and I don't recommend. Had one for a few weeks and returned as the build quality was really cheap and was more of a gimmick than anything.
I think 'M' was some phrase they used for the Blocks. So it's not a new product as far as I can tell, it's just the Seaboard Blocks. You mention glitching - my Seaboard Blocks are also unreliable btw. Some dead zones. They got like that pretty quickly, Roli convinced me it was a firmware fault, took them a year to update the firmware, it still didn't fix the problem, my stuff was by then out of warranty. I personally would probably never buy Roli hardware again. Many people have had issues with their gear. I just don't trust them to do stuff right. That said, I like the Seaboard as a controller, I like the feel of it, and I like Equator - now that's a proper mpe instrument, unlike most stuff going by the name MPE!
Agreed about Equator. It's an amazing synth.
I have one working Seaboard Block, but the other one I had (to make a 4 octave keyboard) broke very, very quickly. Just not a solidly made device, unfortunately.
Between hardware and software letdowns, I’m very wary of MPE now, I mostly don’t bother with it, which is a huge pity, as the potential is great. So many MPE instruments seem prone to stuck notes - even if they get anll the other stuff right, which is extremely rare - overall it just becomes a headache.
Yes Gav! The stuck notes. Glitch pops. If they were not there
Got one recently. Me like. I had talked myself out of it, even with the current BF discount, then they threw in a free copy of Equator and I could no longer say no. They are a very good combo. And if the hardware ends up letting me down, at least I have the software with which to soothe my pain.
I have not tried it with Model 15 yet, but it's very nice with Animoog Z.
Hey man. It’s really tempting.
I feel like a musician when I have it, and a genious (lol) if I map it to something specific.
When I run out of things to learn in Loopy, Automation Binding n stuff, I will let myself fall for the temptation.
Hopefully there will be a complete iOS midi controller setup software by then, or it there?
If you do do something in Model 15, please post it somewhere:) I’d like to see it.
Btw
I think the dude that made Model 15 is in here and still working @ moog. I wonder if there was something with my ROLI when it jumped between CC’s, I tried all the settings at the time.
Cheers
I recently purchased an Expressive E Touché (USB only), connected to a Yamaha UD-BT01 Bluetooth MIDI adapter.
Playing on a conventional keyboard with my right hand and "expressing" with my left hand works quite well for me, but tbh I'm not the player type who needs MPE capability that goes as far as pressing with different forces in each finger and expecting wonders to happen
