Same to you in your exploration
Thank you so kindly mate.
Musically I prefer the first Logic Pro section but I find it amazing how you flit between DAWs.
I would take months and months to get to grips with anything other than AUM.
Hope you find your ideal solution soon 👍
Thank you so kindly, my friend.
Logic Pro was fun for a couple tracks, but honestly it just became too cumbersome with it forgetting the settings of a couple plugins. Wild, because otherwise it'd be a decent replacement for NS2 (especially with "clip automation").
But that said, I've finally settled on sticking mostly with NS2 again. I also like Cubasis 3, but sometimes the automation section gives me an occasional headache (when I try to adjust an automation point, it sometimes scrolls all the way left back to the beginning of the song!). But what @LFS and company have done is monumental with 3.7 and Iconica Sketch. Recently made a holiday piece of music in NS2, and I used Iconica Sketch in it. Perfect sounding Bassoons, Violins, String Basses, and Glockenspiel for that piece.
I like NS2 a lot and would say it’s the easiest DAW I’ve ever used, however, it’s unlikely it’ll ever be updated and no new features added, including IAPs. Who knows what’s going to happen to it over the next few years. If Matt ever came back with NS3 I’d be all over it.
I know it’s still perfectly capable of producing good music as many regularly demonstrate but I think it’s time for me to move on to CB3 for all future work. As Doug from @thesoundtestroom said the other day, it’s got plenty of sounds to make plenty of music. I’ve got all the IAPs for it so it should be more than enough for my needs at least.
Unreal! I thought I answered you mate. 😂
Same here. I've given up on NS2. A great app for sure, but...
And Doug is absolutely correct 💯! After searching and trying out various iOS DAWs, I've finally made a selection for my DAW of choice - Cubasis 3. I have no idea how to place my finger on it, but my music sounds fuller, punchier, and more professional-sounding than from Nanostudio 2.
Honestly, everything that's inside of Cubasis 3 (including the IAPs) makes me want for precious little else. The default reverb isn't that bad, but Roomworks is the mutt's nutts. And the Halion IAP is so good that I deleted Pure Synth Platinum and freed up 100gb storage space. (Honestly, all I wanted was a good saxophone sound which PSP2 has, but then comes along Halion, and its saxophones sound way better to my ears.)
(Not to worry, Beathawk, Korg Module Pro and iM1 are safe from deletion since Beathawk has "world" sounds like the Celtic IAP, Module has American Model D Piano, and iM1 is perfect for many genres if I want to replicate a late 80s/early 90s vibe. 😂)
And FM Classics and Neo FM are just mindboggling excellent! I also find myself reaching more and more for the included effects in Cubasis 3 as well, sometimes reaching for an external effect not covered by what's already in Cubasis. (Ngl, I still love Stratosphere Cloud Reverb. Has a dreamy, otherworldly effect.)
The only thing Cubasis is currently lacking is a proper drum module to be honest. But Koala Sampler is the perfect app for drums (until maybe DM10 is released in a couple of weeks), and I usually only need once instance of Koala since each pad has its own built-in EQ!
Of course it's a little slower to create in Cubasis 3 compared to Nanostudio 2, but that's okay. Cubasis 3 seems to make my productions sound more solid and professional. Maybe that's all in my head, I'm not sure. You be the judge...

...and yes, that's an upcoming Pop song. 😉
Nanostudio 2 was my top DAW, but I wanted to learn another DAW in case NS2 becomes deprecated by an iOS update. Hasn't happened yet, but who's to say it won't? I'm not so much into "future proofing" my projects, because once I finish a project, I finish a project, master it, and upload to SoundCloud. Now, if I ever need to remake a production, I'll just simply remake it.
In fact, the Pop song instrumental snippet I linked above is a remake of a song I made about a year or so ago. That older version sounded rather cheap. The Cubasis remake sounds far more solid, deep and punchy!
So in short - Cubasis is my perfect DAW (well, for me personally that is).
