Wake up, wake up, it's a beautiful day

This is a song I created entirely in GarageBand, and I’m excited to share it with you!

Back in September, during a class I was teaching, the room emptied out by the third part of the lecture. With some unexpected free time, I headed to the library with my iPad and started working on this piece.

I began with the melodic elements because I wanted to create something whimsical and uplifting. After that, I added the #AUTO drummer—Finn, one of my favorite drummers in GarageBand. While I can play the drums myself, I absolutely love the drummer feature.

Next, I experimented with Jussi, a vocal preset that gave the track a unique, almost Santa Claus-like vocal tone. For the choir and youthful sound, I used Harmony Eight with custom presets I made. These transformed my regular vocals into what you hear in the song.

Here it is: Wake Up, Wake Up, It’s a Beautiful Day.

If this post gets 10 comments from 10 different people, I’ll make the project free to download!

Lately, I’ve been experimenting with different ways to engage, so let me know what you think. Fun fact: I’m not as focused on YouTube as you might think!

@seonnthaproducer A nice little track, but wouldn't it have been better to post this thread under creations mate?

You're not wrong. I wanted to put it here because I'll be elaborating on Jussi, Harmony Eight, and Garageband.

It's less of a show of work, and more the creation of custom presets and showing how much I really love Garageband. It's the reason I didn't vibe with Logic Pro for iPad. It seems more like Garageband Pro, except with a subscription.

Seriously, Harmony Eight, and even Voxsyn Pro is a seriously underrated plugin. If you have the chance to grab it on sale, please do.

Harmony lets me do insane choir voices.
Voxsyn has an insane level of vocoder presets that I haven't found on any software.

Edit: 2 down, 8 to go.

You just said it though. The "creation of custom presets". ;) But, it seems the mods have quietly moved this thread to its rightful spot. No harm done. ❤️

I'll look into those, but this week's big purchase is Atoms by Baby Audio. ;)

That's true. Thankful for the mods. I was worried I'd have to start a new thread again.

How is that? I saw the ad but I kept thinking I was already synthed out. Got too many I haven't even tried. Factory by Sugarbytes still hasn't been touched by me, and I bought it 4 years ago.

Nah, just a simple switcharoo does nicely. :)

Dang, lol. Four years ago now? Then again, Factory looks a bit odd to grok. Atoms looks much easier. I still haven't taken the plunge on Atoms to be fair. Listened to a couple of Youtube videos of its desktop counterpart, and I'm not sure. It's not something I'd use that often, even though it looks and sounds wonderful. (Then again, I've slept on other apps, only to purchase them and realise "damn, I should've gotten this one sooner". Lol.)

One of the biggest surprises today has been Viking synth.

The presets are so good. Like no kidding. It’s got a ton of bass and lead presets that I would not have imagined a synthesizer would have.

I should dig back into Viking Synth honestly. If I recall correctly, it's monophonic (at least by default if it has polyphony options), so it should work perfectly for synth basses.

But yeah, I watched a couple more videos (listened to videos? the hell was I saying, lol. I watched videos), and I've made up my mind. I bought Atoms. Nothing quite like it, at least for me personally in terms of software plugins.
