Send specific midi values randomly?

edited December 2024 in Knowledge Base

The mission: have a list of specific midi values/settings that represent various sweet spots in an effect app, and then send them to the effect app hosted in AUM more or less randomly. Ideal, something like polybud, but for midi values instead of notes, but I’ll take whatever accomplishes the goal. Think sample and hold, but for specific values.

Any big brain takes, or am I missing something obvious?

  • Just a suggestion. If Polybud has the basic algorithm, you could route its notes to a simple script that translates each specific note to one or more MIDI CCs.

    Do you own Drambo?

I'd suggest to use pads for selecting and fine tuning specific steps to find the sweet spots 😊

  • Thank you for suggestions.

I do own drambo, but will need to figure it out. Not even a casual user :)

Translating notes via script is also viable, but seems less suited for a smooth workflow. It might just be my lack of scripting ability saying that. Doing something with Mozaic might be on the table though, if nothing else turns up.

Polybud can also send specific CC messages, but seemingly not randomly.

  • MidiStep can send specific, randomized CC values. It has 8 modulation lanes.

Awesome! Thank you. I have and really like MidiStep, but somehow didn’t think of it. That’ll do nicely :)
