Fugue + mac
Hi forum, maybe some creative head will help me out. I would like to use Fugue (ios) with mac(pc) synth. Is it possible? Idk, midi over bluetooth? If so, then how, what programs, how to configurate them?
Maybe midi over usb cable? Possible? (Lightning cable to mini usb)
What would you suggest?
Best wishes

If you're using macOS, you can do this natively by:
This will enable bidirectional MIDI, and also send all audio output from the iOS device to your mac. In your iOS app(s), there will be a pair of MIDI ports labeled "IDAM", and those will send/receive MIDI to/from your mac. On the mac side of things, apps should see a MIDI device that has the same name as your iOS device.
I'll try to help you out. You have several options, and latency could be an issue with anything wireless. It is (of course) much easier to do with a Mac, with no additional software needed AFAIK.
With Windows, your options are hardware like iConnectivity devices, MIDI over Bluetooth, MIDI over Wi-Fi, or USB/lightning cable.

2. I've not tried MIDI over Bluetooth on Windows, and this reddit thread doesn't sound very promising
3. MIDI over Wi-Fi will require a virtual MIDI cable like rtpMIDI or LoopBe1
4. USB/lightning cable Windows connectivity is a kludge of an app, iTunes components, and a virtual MIDI cable
Thank you for replies
@tom_ward I just ordered the cable, when it come I probably will have additional questions..
For now: How do I arm the Fugue (ios) 4 x „heads” with 4 different instances of vst3 synth (mac)? Is it tricky or straightforward?
Sorry for being such a noob 😅 Setting midi channels is not my strenght.
@telecharge I’m sorry for misleading. I’m on mac, but actually your help/suggestions might be good in the future if I switch to Windows or for someone else here.
It’s good to have options
Might be a good idea to change the title to Fugue + Mac, definitely, as these days most people use PC to describe Windows machines.
@Gavinski Done
I'm not sure how to set up Fugue Machine and the VSTs specifically, don't want to give you any wrong advice there. In general, it should be fairly straightforward once you make the connection between iOS and macOS.
Any iOS app that supports MIDI I/O should show the "IDAM" ports as options in their MIDI settings. How that is presented will vary between apps, but the process should be more or less the same.
On your Mac, it will depend partially on what DAW you're using to host the VSTs. I use Bitwig, for example, and in there I can set my iOS devices as controllers in the Bitwig settings. Then, in my projects, they are available as inputs to any tracks that contain any VST instruments.
@tom_ward
Thanks a lot.
I have a comfort of being able to trial bitwig and ableton, but might as well go with some freebie. I just need unlimited midi and audio and clear interface. I have already 2 x vst synths I love and are all I need. No need for synths in daw, distracting..
I would love to check bitwig essentials (it’s cheap) but if you trial you get the studio, eh..

Oh wow, I need to check it out. That would resolve my problems also from other topic „midi goodness”
@Mateusz
I created a short video a while back that shows you how to do this with IDAM
