Lust more

Hi guys,
how do you call it? Gas? I want new hardware but I don’t have enough money. How do you cope with situations like this? How do you cope with lust you can’t afford to materialize?
I need help!

  • Cold showers.
    Engrossing novels.
    Old TV.
    Poverty.

  • “You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave!”

It’s an addiction for sure and I don’t think I have a real answer for you. For me after buying a few that I could afford, it became obvious that it made absolutely no difference in my music production. I’ve kept everything that I’ve bought over the years and I do pull them out to play with them. It’s a joy when I do. But my go to is a couple of MIDI controllers, an iPad, an audio interface, and monitors.

My hardware equipment are like my toys. And the joy of getting a new piece of hardware brings back childhood memories of excitement for getting a new toy. That never goes away my friend.

  • Rethinking your approach to what you have already, and figuring out how to patch creatively to achieve similar ends to whatever it is you are GASsing for.

Not a cure, but it can help calm the urge to bankrupt yourself. Nor will it always work, depending on what you want and what you have. However, transforming gear lust into creativity can be a real help.

    Poverty.

Lol 😂 living it or becoming it after going into another debt?

It’s absolutely golden! Actually this sentimentalism might help a bit
Need to find comfort in memories and bring back toys I already have

    @bygjohn

Actually the problem is I do belive it is somehow a missing link. But my mind might be tricking me and I being lazy right there.

  • Actually quick „research” turns out one of my friends might lend me a money so I’d be able to buy this audio hardware. And you know what guys? I start to doubt if I reallly need it and deny I need it and feel „funny” about it.
Wtf 😅🫣🙄 I am really confused. Like a teen

Ask them to lend you money to pay your mortgage/rent instead. You’ll be happier over time. 🤪

    Get a job.

Or a second job. Or a third.

  • Start Drambo, add a few synths start jamming. This kills most of my GAS. Drambo saved me a lot money. Korg gadget is the other alternative or if I am gassing for a groovebox Grooverider or Korg Wave.

  • Remember, the more gear you buy, the less music you will make, pretty much. Master one or a few instruments and you will be more productive.

  • It’s pretty easy, don’t buy anything new unless you’ve produced x amount of tracks with your current limitations.
Picasso could do wonders with a piece of coal.
