App Suggestions: Live Ambient/Soundscape 🎵?
Gig is playing live soundscape / "sound-healing" / ambient background music for a meditation/yoga class.
Primarily this means music that evolves and changes, has things fading in and out, but doesn't really have much of a hard rhythm or else it will interfere with the class' breathing.
What apps would you use?

For me personally, I use AUM for live Ambient sessions. I'd of course manipulate a lot of the sounds by hand, but you can also set up a system of LFO MIDI FX plugins and hook them up to various parameters of synths, reverbs, whathaveyou. I forget which LFO app it was (I think mLFO), but you can set the app to modulate a parameter super slowly (like hours' long cycles if you so wish).
Oh and of course don't forget to set the BPM to 20 (the lowest it goes in AUM). That ensures everything runs slower.
That said, I'm curious which synths and reverbs and such you use to achieve your Ambient.
I've been experimenting with two setups for soundscapes, built around AUM and Loopy Pro.
Common elements between them:
Synths:
FX:
Sequencing:
Utilities:
Where they differ is the looping mechanism. I use live looping extensively in this type of creation. I will frequently record a loop live and immediately play it back at half speed (down 1 octave), sometimes quarter speed (down 2 octaves) to get low frequencies that are both harmonically and temporally locked to the original source. In AUM I accomplish this with Enso. Loopy Pro doesn't need an extra tool for this task.
I personally rarely do repeating sequences on the iPad, but I like to have MTR on-hand to grab any patterns that I like from generative sequencing. If I am working on a computer, I play out chord progressions and loop them a lot. If you go the repeating chord progression route, try to avoid obvious resolutions in the progression.
Shoom.
Appreciate you sharing this process. I really dig that half speed down 1 octave idea you shared. Will be trying that soon. Cheers!
Brian Eno has some inexpensive soothing ambient apps that you can play by touch or just click the "play" button and off they go forever, gently evolving from one dreamy sound to another.
Bouncebud in AUM (or Loopy Pro) with some ambient synths loaded in. Synths could be almost anything out there. My choices would be Atoms by Baby Audio; or cheaper would be Zeeon. So really, you could do some amazing (and hands-free changing ambient with just those three apps (AUM, Atoms, and Bouncebud.) To change it up even more, add in Bleass Filter (on Calm preset) and a nice delay/reverb like Modnetic.
Yes - this is the easy and inexpensive way to do it.
Years ago I used a very simple method with Loopy HD. I just made various ambient loops that sounded good together, then configured Loopy so when I triggered a loop, it faded in gradually, and when I un-triggered a loop, it faded out gradually. With a set of 12 loops I could create lots of evolving textures on the fly.
Some great suggestions here already (in particular I second Other Desert Cities and Bouncebud). A few more apps to consider:
I’ve used this app for years to just have in the background. Its awesome and the mixer makes it even better

Oops, I was under the impression @boberto was just looking for a host for plugins. I'm a numpty, lol. Okay, let me make some suggestions.
First of all, you'll want a nice collection of reverbs. If you use Logic Pro, great! You have Quantec Room Simulator already. If you don't use Logic Pro, here are some other suggestions. For a great all-rounder, there's FabFilter Pro-R2, although it's iPad-only. For another all-rounder, there's ToneBoosters' Reverb, which also happens to have a shimmer section.
For the shimmer reverb with the longest tail, there is FAC Alteza. Crystalline by Baby Audio is also a very wonderful rich reverb which also has a shimmer section. Also, as suggested by @tom_ward , Velvet Machine, while not strictly a reverb per se (more of an audio smearing thingamabob), can make otherworldly ethereal moments happen. Quite remarkable. @bygjohn mentioned Rymdigare. Don't hesitate to purchase that one either. Especially for live performance, it's just a hell of a lot of fun.
Now reverbs are a type of delay, and you'll also want a delay. Again, @tom_ward suggested Other Desert Cities, which is a great choice. It's iPad-only, but it's worth it just for the reverse delay alone. Another iPad-only delay I can't get enough of is FabFilter Timeless, but again that's iPad-only. (Okay, yeah, you're starting to see a pattern here. 😂 FabFilter, while expensive as fuck, is worth the money if you have an iPad.) Bleass' Delay plugin is a great option otherwise if you're stuck on iPhone.
Then, you'll want to grab an EQ. FabFilter Pro-Q3 comes to mind, but again that's iPad-only. If you're on iPhone, ToneBoosters' EQ is also a very solid choice.
Then we get to other effects. DoctorVibe has a vinyl section (I always turn that section off), a bitcrush section (which I sometimes use depending on the buss), and most importantly, the compressor that glues things together unlike any other compressor I've used. For everyday compression, I'd suggest FabFilter's Pro-C2 if you're on iPad, or ToneBoosters' Compressor if on iPhone. For multiband saturation, there's FabFilter Saturn 2 multiband compression, or if on iPhone there's FAC Bandit.
For more "out there" creative effects, Bleass' Granulizer is a great place to start. I also like Turnado and Effectrix by Sugar Bytes.
When it comes to synths, it's very subjective and depends on the person. There are so many floating around out there in the appstore. So, first of all, you already know I'm going to say FabFilter Twin 3, which is iPad-only. One of the best all-rounders. But also, Bleass' synths are worth every penny, except Monolit, because that one is free. Tal U-No and Moog Model D and Model 15 are great VA synths. If you really want to get lost down the "rabbit hole", definitely take @bygjohn 's advice and purchase MiRack. If modular synthesis isn't your thing, you can still use MiRack as a sort of pimped out effects rack as it can indeed load as an effect plugin, not just an instrument plugin.
Christ, I know I'm missing quite a few synths as my brain is foggy at the moment. For romplers, I suggest XinematiX and its IAP. The whole library used to cost above a thousand quid, but now you can get it for twenty or something like that. Comes with a slew of really incredible sounds for a ridiculously cheap price. Say "thank you @VirSyn ". Another rompler I suggest is Pure Synth Platinum 2. @GospelMusicians have really went a few extra miles to bring quality sounds to iOS. A third rompler is BeatHawk (which is a groovebox in its own right but can be used as a rompler plugin as well) and all its IAPs. BeatHawk has sounds I've yet to find elsewhere.
Then we get to Korg. The rompler I use the most is Korg Module Pro. The reason I list it second to last is due to the insane amount of money it takes to invest in its IAPs. I've been lucky to acrew the IAPs over the course of many years now, but it could be overwhelming. A cheaper rompler is Korg's iM1, which is a fucking classic for a reason. It's not just for making House music afterall. Many different patches in it.
Speaking of Korg, I would invest in purchasing Korg Gadget 3, maybe not necessarily as a creative environment but rather to access all of Korg's gadget synth plugins like Dublin and Wolfsburg. And it seems Korg are having a holiday sale.
That's about all I can think of at the minute.
This… But I’d really recommend running TC-11 into AUM and use some loopers/long delays.
TC-11 works great in slide over.
When you load MA Browser (Media Assistants Browser IAP) into a host like AUM, you can open https://mynoise.net inside the plugin. This allows you to use the sounds within additional effects and more.
I tried different web browser plugins but MA Browser was the only one that allowed to use the sliders (mixer) on the MyNoise site.
reverbs: blackhole, rymdigare, other desert cities, velvet machine, cascade
other effects, signal destroyers: fluss, mononoke
any granular effect/synth
SHOOM!
a sequencer that can do VERY LONG hold of notes
LFO (to tweak and move filters and Q as well as other parameters): mLFO (others will work but this one has exceptionally long and short timeframes)
some apps like relic or fractal bits for some percussive texture
anything that adds signal noise or warble
panning AU or LFO to modulate
scalar 2, harmony bloom or the like if you are bad at chords
a nice sub type bass
also apps like aparillo and factory are great as well
