Dial in the echoes of the past
Revolv is a unique reverb plugin like no other, emerging directly from our cultural and sonic heritage. Whether you place your mix in a peaceful forest, an ancient ruin, or a sweaty sauna, Revolv's impulse responses capture the unique ambiance of each location. Explore historically and acoustically unique spaces like the medieval Gotland ruins or Uppsala Cathedral, meticulously recorded to give your audio a sense of depth and authenticity that sets it apart.
A labor of love (and obsession)
At the heart of Revolv is the dedication of our close friend and sound designer Oscar Björk, who embarked on an epic journey across Sweden in a project called "Echoes of Our Time", capturing the unique acoustic fingerprints of a diverse selection of handpicked locations. His passion for preserving the soul and sound of these locations has resulted in an extraordinary collection of impulse responses, each a testament to his painstaking efforts and deep appreciation for Sweden's acoustic heritage.
Wheels of time and space
Revolv features an innovative design, revolving around "location wheels" and a loupe selector. Simply move the selector around the wheels to change location and sound. Each location also offers a detailed view where you can learn more about the site and customize the decay, predelay, and width, as well as adjust your microphone preference and recording distance. Six wheels are available, each representing a group of locations, ranging from rare and quirky to epic halls.
No Al, Just Pure Acoustics
A convolution reverb blends your audio with an impulse response (IR) from a real acoustic space. Revolv simplifies this complex process, offering a user-friendly interface and an extensive variety of authentic environments.
Revolv's impulse responses are hand-recorded and processed (no Al involved). Each IR is a genuine audio snapshot of a space's natural acoustics, ensuring that the reverb you add to your recordings is as real and rich as the location itself. This authenticity makes Revolv an invaluable tool for musicians, sound designers, and audio engineers, particularly in fields like film and video game sound design where convincing space replication is key. Each location has a unique acoustic character, and the diversity caters for many different creative ideas.
Despite convolution reverbs being resource-heavy, Revolv is designed for efficient performance without sacrificing quality.

    Interesting interface.

  • I've been waiting for this, it's a nice collection of curated IRs.

It's very nice I think, yes, and such a gorgeous UI

  • Really like the idea of information on the actual places

  • I don’t need this. I really don’t.

Even as a Swede I have no use of reverb from some great places in Sweden, and at the same time supporting the Swedish developer Klevgränd. It is not cool at all to dial in the Borgholm castle ruin, or Steningehöjden school canteen or the Uppsala University auditorium (founded in 1477 by the way, making it one of the oldest universities in Sweden together with Lund University) where I went to school.

I have reverbs to last the rest of my life and OK, I’m getting it.

    😁

Hahaha. To be fair, 10 bucks for a bunch of convolution reverbs from a variety of spaces like this, which involved someone travelling the whole way around Sweden for weeks (I’m guessing on the weeks part, but seems likely), and packaged in a UI like this, is a steal.

  • I‘m curious if this app (or any other in the iOS app ecosystem) supports processing ‚true‘ stereo impulse responses. It doesn‘t advertise this (only stereo ‚width‘ output control), so for the moment I‘m assuming it doesn‘t. I don‘t disregard all the other work that has gone into this app, but personally I‘m not interested in buying any new convolution reverb plug-in that doesn‘t support this.

You can find some example stereo impulses at https://www.echothief.com/

    THAFKNAR supports true stereo IRs:

Yes me too and only £10! That is an absolute steal! Would have paid double that for this quality. great work @Klevgrand.

  • Is this an intro price?

Cool, thanks Gav. It looks (sounds) very cool!

  • It all seems cool but in reality I cannot believe a living soul would ever guess your guitar or synth sounds like it was recorded inside the Tomb of Tutankhamun vs an ordinary gallery with a yellow banana taped on the wall.

  • Seems really cool and I love the notion of no AI involved. I feel like IRs are one of those things I'd be fine with AI gen tho if there were a random button that generated new ones instantly lol.

This sounds cool. Thanks for the walkthrough. Nice reverbs.

  • Just trying it with OneShot, oh they sound great together . .. . ... . .... .
