Warp by Baby Audio (Released)

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/warp-baby-audio/id6738417201

New on the App Store

Warp is one of the most popular effect modules in Transit 2, our plugin collaboration with Andrew Huang.

Now on iOS with full AUv3 compatibility, Warp is available as a free app for creative pitch shift and time stretch effects.

Just like the module inside Transit 2, Warp allows you to speed up or slow down audio with fewer artifacts than other plugins.
Additionally, use the Stretch knob to control the pitch of your track independently of the time and achieve extreme effects such as slowing audio down while pitching it up.

Features:

  • A clean and artifact-free varispeed control to speed up audio or slow it down to a standstill for a classic Tape-Stop effect.
  • Use the 'Stretch' knob to control pitch independent of time for unhinged audio mangling.
  • Powered by Transit 2 and developed with Andrew Huang
  • AUv3 compatibility for use inside your favorite mobile DAW

  • Thank you BB

  • Looks cool. Thank you Baby Audio.

    Thanks

  • Looking forward to Transit 2 - anyone know of when it’s due for release?

  • This is excellent, really good quality. And free!

  • Great video doug @thesoundtestroom

Pretty awesome app to create some samples with! My first run seems like its not super great for live jamming as most anything will be that slows down and speeds up your audio, but to create awesome samples or put in the master bus, an awesome thing!

  • Really interesting sounds coming out of this thing.

  • A great freebie for the holidays. :) I really love it.

  • Very happy they've included the iOS platform in this freebie.
I hope this doesn't mean they've come across a major snag in Transit 2 and are releasing this 'working' module while they need more time.

  • The reasoning from BA for not fixing Transit (1) on iOS is: "there's no money to be made, so we wont spend much time on that". Well, the marketing value from this obviously beats a silent fix for Transit.

This company and myself grows further apart for every new move (without living up to the old promises made) they make.
I seem to be very alone in my stand on this. That's alright.

I'm sure you've already posted in detail what are the problems with Transit, but can you summarize or point to the issues? I'm suddenly more interested in Transit with the release of this component. Convince me Transit isn't worth the money.

I would buy Transit again. I know a new version is coming, but apart from only saving in host and not the app itself which is annoying (unless I’ve missed something) the sheer range of what this app does for the price is amazing. I’ve not come across any issues, but that’s only my findings and I’ve hardly used it extensively yet.

Problem is do you wait for a sale or the new version?

Yes, that is a question... I'm satisfied with the release of this free component for now, so I suppose I can wait to see how this all shakes out.

  • They said they are working on fixing the preset issue in Transit 1. Time will tell.
I was going to buy it a few months back, but then I saw Transit 2 - and it has some features that will possibly make it a staple app in my projects. I'm impressed with the reviews. I'll wait for Transit 2. I love the automation I'm seeing.

Also, preset saving is preferred, of course, but there are other famous and great sounding apps that also have the same issue (AudioThing, for example, has presets that can't be seen by Loopy Pro host - so I have to make presets right in the host as a workaround). So far, this is not a deal-killer for me.

Yeah, I'm not doing that - buy Transit, by all means. It's expensive and you can't make your own preset and some other stuff they omitted from the desktop version. It is still a very good product.

I'm stubborn though and I like to stand buy my words so till they fix what they promised, now a long time ago, BA wont get much from me.

Yeah, not being able to make your own presets is a really big limitation.

It should have an inbuilt preset menu I agree. But you can use your host preset saving no? And it also seems to save state fine, at least in AUM

I have no problems saving in AUM. Can’t comment on other hosts as I’ve only used it in AUM so far.

Presets for a plug-in with THREE parameters, really?

Oh, I know I commented on this before, it just sounded like you were saying there is no ability to save presets full stop, that's what confused me. As I said, I do agree it should have an inbuilt preset system

  • There are other plugins that are well-loved despite lacking an internal preset manager. Fugue Machine is the first I think of - contains a good selection of factory presets accessible in AUM, but none of them are available in Drambo, unfortunately.

  • It’s free, so not a problem at all, but when using stretch I don’t find the algorithm robust enough.
