Two Minute Warping

After a conversation with @jwmmakerofmusic about short tracks, I thought I would try one with the new Solder app by @brambos and Jacob Haq.

I tried to stick to mostly Bram Bos apps.

I just failed to get it under two minutes….maybe next time :)

  • sounds good. Seems to be a great synth.

Thanks. I have to say not being a modular user much, I find these semi modulars quite fun, so much so that I might consider one of those cheap Behringers to add to my small hardware setup.

  • Excellent work. Short pieces are much harder to do. Well, for me anyway!

A while back I participated in a couple of one-minute composition projects with a FB group and ended up having to use a linear DAW (noooooooo…!) to finish them as I couldn’t be precise enough with AUM and manual control. Pieces had to be 1 minute plus or minus 2 seconds, IIRC.

Two very succinct yet interesting pieces. I will definitely have to go out of my 80s comfort zone for my next effort in short track when John posts the challenge

  • @Fruitbat1919 Thanks! Most of my stuff comes in between 5 and 10 minutes, so these compressed pieces were a real challenge.

Yep I find it a challenge to get something going without a minute long meandering intro :p

  • Loved the sounds that came in at 0:49, packed a lot in to 2 minutes 👍

    Nice.

    Thanks :)

  • I agree with @GeoTony about the amount of variety packed into a short track. Interesting to watch the process in AUM. Solder sounds like it would be fun to try. Nice track.

I found getting decent sounds from Solder to be quite easy considering it was all trial and error more than knowing what I'm doing. Definitely worth a try!

  • Sometimes the best things come from trial end error. I’ve found that to be the case with most of my stuff. I’ll do something that makes no sense, and then I think… that’s pretty cool. Think I’ll keep it.
