Synth apps for iPhone portrait mode

I’m looking for recommendations for synth auv3 that work well in portrait mode on iPhone.

Been having a good time with Koala on the go, now I want some synths i can sample into koala that have a good portrait ui. Been using DRC and some BLEASS stuff but they don’t really work in portrait mode.

Ps if the app gods are listening can we pleaaaase have a working auv3 version of Europa from reason compact 🙏🙏

  • IKaossilator; Ableton Note.

  • Moog Model 15 does…

  • Drambo is the best at portrait in my opinion.

  • Korg Gadget does pretty well.

  • I mostly use Korg Module Pro to sample in instruments into Koala. A fantastic rompler. Although with Gadget you do get Marseille, which in of itself is a great little rompler.

I also personally found Monolit by Bleass to not be too bad regarding portrait mode, but ymmv.

  • Mela 5 works just fine in portrait mode

    🎯

  • You can use the koala synthesizer too! But if you are going to sample into koala you will need a host like AUM as well or screen record the synth to import that way.
Some synths have built in audio recorders as well that can be sent right to koala

  • Yeah i have been using aum. The thing that is bothering me is if i use a synth like DRC it’s not really usable in portrait mode. With koala i really like the “thumbs on” workflow on the iPhone screen and was wondering what synths have really good portrait mode options. I will try drambo since i have it although (blasphemy warning) I don’t actually like it much 😅

IKaossilator isn’t auv3 - which is a pity. It’s also a pity Korg have never delivered the expansion packs for it.

There is actually one extra expansion IAP inside iKaossilator just in case :sunglasses:

I like it. It is very easy to set up modulation in Shaper, you just drag and drop LFO onto whichever knob you want to modulate. I use it a lot for pads, and the UI also resizes nicely to different screen sizes.

Yore right of course - I think there was an expectation of several more. I can’t think why they neglected it - could have been a nice little earner.

  • Not an AUv3 but elastic drums is amazing for phone portrait mode. You could still build sounds in it and then use the iOS screen recorder to record it.

  • Nambu (kinda) .. just gotta scroll left and right to see everything but very useable in portrait mode

Hilda is great. Everything is on one page and the sequencer pulls up from the bottom for one page
Easy to find all the controls

    No built in keyboard tho

Is Hilda in portrait mode or landscape mode there mate? I think @mangecoeur is looking for portrait mode only synths.

    Elastic Melody is AUv3 however.
