Anyone using their iPad in a live setup?
I'm hoping to do some gigs in the spring with a laptop (probably running Maschine, software synths and either Logic or Ableton) and analogue synths, and thinking of supplementing this setup with Audiobus running on the iPad - probably a synth or beatmaking app running through some effects.
Just wondered if anyone on the forum has taken their iPad out for a live performance, or have any tips for a reliable setup. Any suggestions welcome - or if you think I'm mad to do such a thing I can take that on board too!
Cheers.

I've used bm2 and figure running through ab2 with turnado as fx slot and audio master as output. Worked well. Only tips I can offer are test your setup thoroughly, turn on aeroplane, set your ipad not to lock (I got weird behaviour when unlocking it, glitches etc). Possibly have might want to have it plugged in, although mines was fine on battery Be prepared for lots of people trying to get a look at how your managing to make live music from an ipad. Have fun!
I'm using ipad for live looping with a live drummer. Loopy, sunrizer, magellan, turnado, effectrix, samplr all within audiobus. This with behringer uca222, 2xakai mpk mini and ik blueboard. We'll be playing a live gig this Saturday. Will let you know how it goes. Here's a taster
Yes, I use it on every gig, but not as the centerpiece. I'm a bassist, and I have a "pedalboard" I built that sits on a keyboard stand with my vt bass pedal, a novation xio, and an irig keys that controls the iPad. I usually use iSEM for synth bass, but occasionally another app (Thor, animoog, imini). These devices all run into a mixer that sends to a DI for PA and also to my In-ears. There's a picture somewhere on this forum.
I sometimes use drumjam to play some percussion and I use forscore and IrealB for charts. A few months ago I used nanostudio for some "thunderous" drum hits on AC/DC's thunderstruck, which was the bride and groom's entrance song...that was a fun wedding to play!
@supadom catchy stuff! Digging the tune.
I've yet to use my iPad live but have a gig coming up where I'll be using my Axiom 49 running into Sampletank, Thumbjam and (probably) Magellan controlled by iMIDIPatchbay. Probably won't use AB as there are fewer audio glitches without it, especially when using program changes.
Thanks for the replies!

Good tip - I'll have to find the settings for that.

Great stuff! I'll be doing some stuff with a live drummer too, plus the occasional vocalist and guitarist, so nice to see how you're doing this.

Sounds like my kind of wedding!

I have a bit of a habit of accidentally pressing the AB sidebar buttons and turning things off when I get carried away, so I'll have to watch out for that if I use it live. Maybe I'll just use the synths straight..
Thanks again for all the replies, looks like I'll need to do a lot of testing before taking the iPad out on the road. I've got some practice sessions with the drummer coming up so I should be able to tweak the setup as we go along.
