Millstone Grit

Millstone Grit is type of hard rock found locally and used historically to make Mill stones, build houses and construct dry stone walls.
This has an extra bit of jazz and funk added to the rock.
IBassist, Riffler, Rock Drummer and GeoShred are used to play a variety of synths and SWAM instruments.

  • I love the slow deliberate buildup (it has a kinda brooding atmosphere) that lead to a "quiet violence", the tension is simmering just below the surface before blowing out. The distorted background guitar crashes into the brass, creating a beautiful yet chaotic clash of textures. It’s an intriguing contrast, both jarring and captivating.

That being said, a few harsh frequencies remain untamed, and the mix edges into saturation—enough to overwhelm even my Behringer headphones. With some refinement to smooth out those peaks, this moody composition could truly shine.

It remains a striking and atmospheric piece, full of raw energy and creative tension. I love it.

  • Thanks for the listen and comments Joseph ( @jo92346 ) 👍
I know exactly what you mean and agree. It sounded Ok on the iPad but not on the final listen on the headphones but at that stage I couldn’t be bothered starting again.
The two sets of brass and the guitar are all played with GeoShred and I don’t use midi recording or editing.
I might have been able to fix it in the final mix but I think the individual stems (is that the right terminology) are a bit overcooked as well.
