Making an play / overdub toggle switch
Feel this is probably an obvious one but struggling - want to create a simple switch that toggles "global clip behaviour > after recording" between values eg. play and overdub (OR just changes this behaviour for selected clips). Can't seem to find the appropriate action, any help appreciated.

There will be an Assign Clip Settings action in the upcoming 2.0 release that'll make that simple. Until then this may need some fancy work with stepped dials that I haven't really gotten my head around. I'm sure @espiegel123, the master, will have better advice than I can provide.
If you are triggering things by midi, you can set up two (or more) profiles with different settings for the record or play actions and set up a dial or radio button or toggle to switch between them.
If doing things by touch you could set up a gesture for the alternate behavior.
Thanks for the input
@wim Great to hear thats on the way, sounds like a very clean solution.
@espiegel123 Very interesting. Im not using a controller (doing things by touch). The actual behaviour I am after is that when a clip reaches the end of its predesignated length (say 2 bars) it will automatically switch from record to play OR overdub depending on the what my switch is set to (so guessing maybe gestures wouldn't be a solution in this case, unless I've misunderstood?). Either way prob easiest just to wait until 2.0 gets released than try to do anything too fancy...
I@paulj: the way it would work with gestures is that you could set swipe-left , for example, to use overdub after record and tap to play after record.
Oh really! So in the original gesture used to START recording you could set this preference then? Can I ask what action you can use to set this preference, was having trouble finding anything that seemed relevant
What I am suggesting is not something that changes the preferences it changes the settings for the action.
For example, set your global settings for play after record.
As a global gesture, add the Play/Stop Action for swipe-left. In the action setup for the play/stop action, find the section for record setup. It is normally set to Default. But you can edit that section and set it to overdub after record.
So, when you swipe left on an empty clip, it will overdub after recording. If you tap it, it will use the default settings.
This is brilliant, had no idea a play / stop action allowed you to define all your clip settings for this unique action! Thankyou
