Midi Velocity

edited December 2024 in Loopy Pro

Hello, I'm using a Launchpad pro MK3 with loopy pro, but can't find any setting to adjust midi velocity to trigger samples. I must be missing something? Also don't tell me to use Mozaic or Streambyter or anything, please just tell me there is a midi velocity setting in Loopy Pro, if not, why?

Best to all

    Are you triggering one-shots?

Are you getting no velocity response currently or are trying to customize the response curve?

Hello @espiegel123 , actually velocity is working perfectly well, but the sample (one shot or loop) is playing too loud, I would like to scale the incoming midi velocity beetween 0% to 80%.

  • Velocity should work out of the box.
If not, maybe you have turned it off = maximum value.
Read the manual at 10.3 (Page 53)

Loopy doesn’t have velocity curve adjustment. But you can go into an individual clip’s settings and lower its default volume.

  • You can also adjust the volume of each clip individually, or if they're all the same color, for all of them at once.

Ok, that's what I've done already ;-) But then if I want to trigger the sample from the iPad screen , it is playing with a very low volume. Is there a way to tell Loopy to play the sample at a specific volume if I trigger it from the iPad screen ?

Thanks everyone for your helps. I see it's a very active forum

  • In the end , it's all about the workflow, a simple global setting for external midi controller would have been handy I think. Loopy is so full of options and great features that those simple things should be implemented to speed up the workflow... maybe in the next update? :)

Do you use both touch and midi for the one-shot interspersed? If not, you might want to have a widget that toggles the clip between the two volume settings.

Is it a hold-to-play situation or trigger and play all the way through situation?

  • I think the widget will be the way to go indeed.

    Hold-to-play is the way :D

If it is hold to play, you could also set up your midi binding to lower the clip volume before the one shot is triggered and restore the volume when the note off is received.

Was trying to achieve this but now that you tell me I can do it , I WILL :)

    Thanks for those great advises

It’ll look something like this (I think this should work I am not somewhere where I can test it at the moment)

Can't find those settings :s Do you use Midi Learn to access it?

Midi Bindings are found in the profiles accessed via Control Settings

I can confirm the method is working, I have to find a way to make it quickly for all my samples. B)
