Why the recent resurgence of old threads?

Vanilla forums quirks?
People are getting nostalgic?
My front page has lots of threads, some as far back as 2019, with like 749 unread comments
It’s been like this for a few days, and I seem to remember it happening before

Comments

  • A thread is recalled when someone decides a new comment belongs there. If you followed that thread in the past you’ll be queued up on this new comment but if not you’ll have to wade through the comments from the archive.

I personally wish new comments would just start a new thread and provide the opportunity for a fresh conversation.

There are more of these threads re-surfacing because there are fewer super threads based upon “game changer” apps arriving as news.

There are Loopy Pro update will probably be the next big thing as @michael makes MIDI recording a new feature.

  • Humm ... I wonder if it could be me moving threads out of the Other category?
What's odd is I haven't seen that happening myself.

Are the unread threads at the top of your feed?? Or are you just seeing the number of unread messages going up?

  • I've been moving things out of the Other category that don't really belong there so that new posts to them will not be buried from the main feed.

If this is causing old threads to come to the top of the feed that's a problem and I need to stop with the re-categorizing.

  • It’s not a big deal, probably something on my side. Thanks for the replies, guys, and @wim thanks for your kind work

I'd still like to know if they're bubbling to the top of your feed or if they're just increasing your unread count. Also, I haven't moved any in the last 24 hours, so if you've seen this since then, it's probably just activity.

They’re intermixef, some old some new. I think it’s activity as well, and the reason is probably what @McD said, not much happening so people search topics and comment on old threads.
Sorry it seems to me now that I’m only wasting your time

    Nope! Not at all.

It was very much on my mind that there could be unintended consequences of me moving all those threads around. The last thing I want to do is cause a bunch of old threads to pop to the top. I'd rather know now if I am. 😎

I don’t think it’s you moving threads, I should have screenshot earlier but here’s what I see now

For instance the app deals thread, there’s no way I have 2.7k comments unread. Or the gross beat like app that showed new and unread till I tapped it.
But this can be real as I don’t recall ever reading it.
Anyway, no big deal and maybe I shouldn’t have made this thread

I'm glad you did. Thanks for the info.

  • I can only answer for myself and my own posts, but I've been away from this forum for the most part of the last 4 years (changed life situations, work, family stuff etc) and when I'm now setting things up for my creative/creation space again now that I am back, looking for answers to questions I am having now, catching up, which you guys both encountered and solved when I was away. If there only is one thread about a specific topic I reply in that thread, which bumps it up I guess. :)

If I am looking into an app, I'll dig up the original thread and gauge the response. So- I know I've dug up a shit ton.
