Gestrument Pro is amazing!

I've never heard of this app and thought I give it a try.

I am always on the hunt for good chord plugins and I think I have nearly all of them (at least the well known like scaler, tonality, progressions,....) but this thing is my new number 1.

It´s a mixture of geoshred and perhaps drambo (for the modular side of things).
It goes so deep when you spend some time with it.

The builtin sounds are sf2 files and most of them sound really great, especially the pianos and strings (and you can exchange them) but the real power comes when you drive pure piano, neo soul keys etc....

It's not auv3 but I don't care. Plays beautifully with all my daws or audiobus, super clever functions and stunning interface,... so much fun.

I wonder why this app flies so extremely under the radar? It deserves way way more content.

It's on sale right now but for whatever reason you can't buy the app in trial mode (1 week) so you have to wait the time and buy it afterwards. Contacted the dev. and it seem an Apple issue.
But sale runs till January 6th so you have time.

Oh, and i didn't really mess with the built in looper and drum sequencer which has odd time signatures, random velocity, probability and what not... microtonal scales or user defined scales etc....
this alone is absolutely amazing.

Give it a try, for the price (even for full price) its a steal.

I am not affiliated! but this app has to be way more known and if you are into advanced chord stuff (like jazz, blackmusic, neosoul) this is a no-brainer.

Wish you nice holidays!

  • It is a fantastic app. Go hunt for some midi files and load them. Instant remix of Chopin or what have you.

Saw it was on sale super cheap and thought I should recommend it, but you guys just did!

Thanks for the nice write-up! :-) I totally agree! It is quite incredible as a midi-controller, and playing around with the various alternative tunings are a lot of fun too. Absolutely recommended for the price right now - for me it is up there with TC-11, Samplr, Shoom og Borderlands among apps turning the iPad intro a original instrument.

    Dot

  • Gestrument Pro is the suped up Ochestral/band version of Beatsurfing -- and theres no need to design your own interface. Not to say anything bad about those who do or Beatsurfing which is perfect for what its intent is.

  • So I could control an external synth with it?

yes - use the gear icon to access the settings and pick what you need to for the MIDI out. You might need to have separate MIDI channels for each instrument.

  • Can’t get it to start.. crashing on load

  • I downloaded it this morning and I’ve been having a blast with it. I’ve been going through the presets and figuring out how they put them together. This thing is ridiculously powerful.

I set it up with Loopy Pro and I’ve got it controlling a bassline with a MiniMoog plugin, chords to Quanta 2, and a lead to DRC. It sounds gorgeous and it’s fun to control all of them at once.

  • I love the recorder - instant jamming. I just wish it would record midi in. Recording your finger movements inevitably ends up as ascending and descending melody which is a bit limiting.

Still a helluva fun and powerful app!

  • I’ve had this thing forever! I used to use it all the time.. it was quite fun… might have to fire it up again

Delete and re download and or reboot the iDevice

I know what you mean. But It didn’t take me too much effort to record sequences containing intervals larger than 2nds, by lifting my finger. Takes me a few takes to record the sequence I’m hearing in my noggin, but still less painful than to input sequence or piano roll editing, imo.
It’s not much of a faff to clear the sequence and try again. Or, one can rig up something quicker by using LoopPro via IAA and the control profile.

Thank you @Basscleff for reminding me of this great app. It’s been years that i deleted it. It’s much more enjoyable now that my perspective on music creating has changed, but especially with the addition of Loopy Pro. I hope IAA never breaks, especially cause of drumjam.

Damn. Never would have thought of that @Philandering_Bastard 👍

    Good comparison @audiblevideo , i agree
