Voyager

I would like to thank @GeoTony for sharing his “1 bpm” trick with me. I only use Piano Motifs in standalone mode, so this wasn’t immediately apparent. Where is the Sync button? (I found it) I usually only use AUM to route synths into Cubasis, so this opens up a lot of new possibilities for me. Thank you so much. What hath Tony wrought!

This started out as just a test, but once I got into it I decided to go ahead and make something. It began as a completely random pattern generated in Piano Motifs. I used it to drive Mini Orchestra, iSymphonic, Sunrizer, and Pure Piano. Although I didn’t run it at 1 bpm, I brought it way down to 25 bpm, which I never do. Then I started adding Riffler guitar parts at multiples of 25 bpm, 50, 100 etc. I threw in a some drum loops, also stretched and slowed way down. They sound very different when played slower than intended, especially with some Other Desert Cities over the top. The end result is truly bizarre. I kept it short because it was driving me crazy listening to it. If you enjoy weird things, you might like this.

  • Cool track @Paulieworld 😎! Here's another trick. Piano Motifs has a BPM multiple when running in Sync mode. The available multiples are: 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2. To access it you long press on the Sync button.

  • This one has an eerie feel to it. Maybe it’s the slow tempo, definitely partly because of the sound design. I was thinking it would be good music for someone in a movie wandering the halls of an abandoned asylum and then the astronaut bits came in. Very weird. Very cool.

Hi Fernando. Thanks for the tip. I'll have a look. Piano Motifs is by far the best music app I ever bought. For someone like myself, it allows me to make my so-called "music" anywhere, anytime. Although I spent most of my teen and adult years playing keyboards and bass in bands, that's no longer an option for me. Now, I'm limited to what I can do with an iPad and stylus, while sitting in my comfy chair. It often seems like I have just scratched the surface of what Piano Motifs can do for me.

This particular track is a bit of an oddball. Like I said, it started out as a test, and I just decided to go a little further. It's definitely "different", but that's what I always try to do. I'm not always successful. Fortunately, I'm not dependent on music for my income! I think my next one will turn out better, but that's what I always say. We'll see.

Thanks for creating an excellent, extremely useful, and affordable music creation tool!

Best holiday wishes to you, your family, and friends!

Hi Mac! Yeah, this one is pretty weird. The original title was a quote from "The Shining", but it seemed inappropriate for the holiday spirit. I thought it sounded like outer space music, and I had a picture of Voyager for the graphic, so I went with that instead. It also gave me an excuse to use the Neil Armstrong quote. I think I've used it before, but who's counting.

I'm adding a few more bits to FF. I think it sounds "interesting" and nice enough. I'm not sure about how it will work with the visuals. I'll leave that decision to you. Hope you got all of your outdoor chores finished. We are pretty much stuck inside for a few more months.

    Merry Christmas!

  • 25 bpm… positively manic 😊
I agree about PM, it’s a very inspiring app but you use it very well.

Thank you, my friend. Lots of fun possibilities with this feature. I’ll try not to be so weird in the future. Merry Christmas!
