Jam Origin - Midi Guitar 2 and AUv3

edited December 2024 in App Tips and Tricks

Just discovered this.
Quite impressive.

Not sure if it's the demo, but Zeeon worked great, Sunrizer not at all and Tera Synth just glitched on every patch. Is it hit or miss with AUv3s?

Is buffer setting done on the audio interface? Plugged into an Axe Fx III and there is no onscreen adjustment.

When purchasing, if I want to trigger AUv3 I assume I need to purchase both IAPs?

A Testflight beta version of Midi Guitar 3 iOS should be available very soon.
The beta version for desktop is amazing! Already the best plugin for 2025. ;)
MG3 has MPE and countless of other incredible features. :)

I have not found it to be hit and miss. Are you loading the AUv3 directly in Midi Guitar or are you using Midi Guitar in a host.

What hardware and OS are you using?

Have you purchased it? It times out if you haven’t purchased it.

    Have not purchased yet.
Timeout not related. Using Auv in the app itself.
Works for an about 5 min before timing out. Issues on those apps happen right away.

I always use MG2 in another host. It could be an issue with it as a host.

Is there a way to get in on the MG3 iOS beta?

I have no clue if the MG3 iOS beta will be restricted to only a select few of people or open for all.

I only know that those who already own MG2 for desktop get instant access to the MG3 beta for desktop (and the soon full version to be released).

As for iOS I don't think the same principle will be applied as in MG2 users getting MG3 for free.

But the developer mentioned on the forum that he's awaiting approval from Apple and that MG3 beta could show up in Testflight any day now.

MG3 has so many incredible features besides MPE and the tracking is excellent.

On top of that there is even ”MG3 HEX” (IAP) where if you happen to have a 13-pin equipped guitar you can have one string per midi channel all via USB. This makes the already excellent tracking even greater and really superb.

While those 13-pin boxes that utilize MG3 HEX like Boss GP-10, SY-1000 & GM-800 are not class compliant and will not work with iOS, a member over at https://www.jamosapien.com is working on such a device that will enable hex mode even for iOS via USB.

A soundcard with plenty of inputs would also do for using MG3 HEX iOS but then you'll need this too:
    https://www.separate-strings.co.uk/breakout cables and more.html

I'll wait for the USB version that the member over at https://www.jamosapien.com is working on. ;)

Hope to see many reading this there! :)

You sir are correct. Loaded the demo into Loopy and voila, working like a charm.

I have MG2 working and an audio effect in LP.

In my limited testing, everything working in terns of triggering AUv3 synths and tracking extremely well.

When I select any type of pitch bend setting, doesn’t seem to work. When I bend it basically goes to the next note like I’m playing it on a keyboard.
Is this related to any particular setting in the target synth?

Also can’t figure out how to save/recall a patch when hosting MG. Everything is obvious when in standalone.

I hope I am able to use MG in Loopy without any functionality restrictions like going from monophonic to polyphonic while playing live - or simply changing a preset mid-tune.

Can you show a screenshot of your routing? Pitchbend works fine for me when MG2 is loaded as an AUv3 midi controller in Loopy Pro

  • @slinky said:

To figure out what might be going on, I’d suggest turning off all options but pitch bend. Set the pitchbend to the default (2) and set it to monophonic mode. And make sure SM2 is set to pitchbend range 2 as well

I think you will find that range 2 tends to work best

    Thx for vid.
It is indeed working when following your settings.
As to using this in a live situation do you know if we can change a patch that is set to monophonic - then poly in the loopy environment? I can't see how to access presets using MG as an effect.

  • @slinky : mono/poly etc is part of the AUv3 state. You can save presets for AUv3 in Loopy Pro by tapping in the folder icon in the AUv3 window and tapping New to add the preset.

    See: https://wiki.loopypro.com/AUv3_Presets

  • Once again , thx for help.
    Very much appreciated.
