JWM - Snake (E) (Industrial Techno done in NS2)

The story behind this track is on SoundCloud, but to expand upon it, I was friends with this one guy in an online gamer community for a couple years, but on Sunday the two-faced snake dissed me. 🫠 I knew I had to make a revenge song, and this is how "Snake" was born. I chose Industrial Techno because of how hard it hits, and KMFDM was the main inspo for the style.

As said on Soundcloud, most things were synthesised from scratch using Obsidian, including the drums. I have a high choir pad that's barely audible but is there to add atmosphere. The choir riser is to add tension and release. I added Santa Ana for the metal guitar riff, and of course the altered vocals to call this guy out.

Yes, this time the album art was actually drawn by me rather than AI generated. 😂 Let's just say this is pretty close to how my former friend looks IRL (well, except for the forked tongue, fangs, and snake eyes lol). Took some inspo from Aidan Hughes (KMFDM's album artist), although I'm certainly not at his level of skill and most certainly don't pretend to be. (My talents lie in music, not visual arts. 😆 )

Anyways, I hope you all enjoy this track. This is a pretty new-to-me style, so I'm excited I was able to pull this off as decent as I did.

  • Fantastic track. Really cohesive sound design I especially love the staccato/arpy lead.

Constructive criticisms? (I've gotta be careful here ;) ) I thought the crunchy guitar-like riff that comes in later was too quiet. Also, whilst really a fantastic sound, I struggled to hear much of the diss vocal. I did catch "fuckin prick" though!

As ever your ability to jump genres is hugely impressive.

Thank you so kindly mate. ☺️

I thought so. 😂 After churning out the mix quick, I didn't know if my ears were playing tricks or not. (And no need to be careful. Constructive criticism is always welcome by me. Helps me continue to grow as an artist.)

😂🤣 Hahaha! Yeah I tried my best to enunciate my words in an exaggerated fashion in the entire vocal (kind of like how one enunciates while singing), but indeed it has been a while since I last did proper vocals on a track (I'd wager at least 3 months).

Thank you kindly again. ❤️ I never do like to stay put in one genre for too long unless it's a hyperfixation. 😅
