6/8 @ 120 :: Loopy vs. MuseScore

Hi,
I have a song that is a waltz feel. In Loopy Pro, I have the time signature and BPMs set to 6/8 @ 120 BMPs. See pic.
I scored out the song in software called MuseScore - to generate MIDI file to import into Atom Roll running in LP. Inside MuseScore you can actually "play" your music.

SooOOooo - when I listen to the metronome in LP, and listen to the song played in MuseScore - they sound the same "timing wise".

HOWEVER.... when I export the piano MIDI file from MuseScore, and import it into Atom Roll, and Atom Roll is synced to LP, it plays the MIDI file twice as fast. I have to go into Atom Roll and set it to play at 0.5x to make it comes in time with everything else in LP.

Any thoughts?

Thanks
AJ

  • Not much help soory, but I've had issues like that trying to synchronise 6/8 or 12/8 between different apps. Some seem to interpret it differently somehow. I don't think I managed to solve it. I actually started to write a question about it to post, but I never did... Hope someone can help!

  • @Vmusic : the difference between 6/8 and 6/4 is primarily a notation convention. Loopy isn’t sophisticated in this regard. For all time signatures, the top number is what is significant. Adjust tempo as needed.
