Using Apple Music without sync?
Never had it before, but I got 3 months free Apple Music subscription with the new Mac and impressed with the amount of stuff on there.
However when I try to create a playlist, or even just mark a track as a favourite, it asks me to sync to iCloud first. Which seems a bit heavy handed, and unnecessary.
Thought I’d better check this out first and discovered a few user horror stories online of non-Apple based music files being wiped when subscriptions ended, so pausing that for now!
Just checking if anyone uses Apple Music and knows of a workaround, a way of bookmarking or favouriting without syncing, as I want to avoid Apple hoovering up my own tunes!

Just sync'ing a playlist should not result in the deletion of any of your own music, but then again I've been having a devil of a time with the Music app randomly screwing up loads of my own music files. The transfer of songs from desktop to my phone has resulted in countless songs having their artwork erased and replaced with incorrect album covers. No idea what is going on and I'm too tired and infuriated to fix it now. If I had more energy, I'd be calling for the head of the Apple Music division to be fired.
This is what worries me, I want to keep my own audio files separate (I use VLC to listen to these) and just use Apple Music for listening to their own service. I checked the Music app on my Mac, and it’s automatically added a whole bunch of single drum hit samples to the library. Just, bonkers.
So if I have to sync everything to the ‘cloud’, and this effects every device I use, then I’ll pass. Which means I can’t create a playlist (which I could do with iTunes years ago without syncing) or even favourite a track.
I won’t continue with it after the free period, though I notice a tenner I had in my account just before subscribing is no longer there.
