Impaktor alternatives...?

Now that BeepStreet software have removed Impaktor from the app store what are the alternatives?

Maybe a developer could make something like Impaktor but AU and maybe more features?

Comments

  • Mods note: when I just created this thread I didn't have any choices as to what catagory to select - it just created it in the "General App Discussion" area with no alternatives available. Is this how it is meant to work?

To start a new discussion with a selection of categories you have to start the discussion from the home page.

If you start from any of the categories it will make a discussion for the category you’re currently in.

I believe. At least that’s what I’ve seen

Also not a mod just saw the post and chose to comment

Isn’t there a module in Drambo that does this? Or on Patchstorage? Maybe @Gravitas might know

I don’t know if this fits your use case.

There's actually a specific Factory song called "Impaktors" in dRambo
that can be used as a template for your own Impaktor pieces and
yes, we can make Impaktor in dRambo and much, much more.
@offbrands the preset I put together called "Squash" is based upon the same principle as Impaktor.
I think I'm using an Env Flex module which can easily be replaced with an audio input or piezo.

  • Oh yeah the module is the Modal Resonator module.
We could also use the FDN and BBD modules thinking about it.
Maybe even running them in series or parallel with each other which can create interesting textures.

  • Thank you for your input @Gravitas - well done 🙏🏽

    Ah, that would explain it.

Yes, I didn't create the thread from the main page. My mistake.

    Thank you for the info.

Thanks for that, but I was after an app that isn't Drambo.

Not everyone has Drambo. And it isn't cheap and not everyone wants to go to the trouble of learning it.

That would fit @Simon 's use case as @supadom loves Impaktor and
it was one of the main reasons why Supadom dived into dRambo in the first place.

Fair enough however Impaktor and dRambo are from the same Dev.

Have you tried the Spectrum Bundle?
They replicate the Mutable Instruments modules as auv3's.
I think you would like them and the other alternative would be MiRack.
They won't sound like Impaktor however they do provide resonators
which can be pinged by audio or a pulse or env generator.

Not everyone has Drambo. And it isn't cheap and not everyone wants to go to the trouble of learning it.

Once again fair enough, see my suggestion above for alternatives.

Normally I wouldn’t mention it as a solution to things, as I know it’s not practical (and a bit of a worn out answer here)

I apologize for assuming that you would want a Drambo recommendation, as it’s from the same dev I assumed (wrongly) that it was a solution. My bad. Best of luck on your search

  • Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I guess I was thinking of an AUv3 app you boot up and generate sounds by tapping the table. As simple as that.

    Probably doesn't exist...

Then try the Spectrum bundle, it's free and all you need is a host such as AUM to get it happening.
Try the Resonator effect, I've just tried it on my ancient 9.7' pro in AUM and it works.
You will have to play with the gain to make sure it doesn't feedback and only resonates when tapping a surface.
I would recommend using headphones for this if you're on iPad only.

It ended up in the right place. 😎

When you start a discussion it'll go in whatever section you were in, except as noted by others if you're in "All Categories", where you get a choice.

Not that it matters much where things go other than the the two sections, "Other" and "Market Place" that don't end up in the main feed.

  • Not as flexible sound wise, but maybe have a look at Aas objeq.

That’s a very cool app, wish we had it on ios.
But the answer to the impaktor experience on ios is surely drambo. I realize it’s an investment, both monetary and learning time. But all the tools are there to make impaktor 2.0 or 3.0, you name it.
It’s not daunting as it seems, and there’s a whole community eager to help

I don't think it's much more than the modal resonator in Drambo (I think actually less resonator types), just standalone without having to do much setup. Reason's Objekt I don't have, but from what I've seen it's way more complex.
