    Agreed. Very raw and analog sounding. Best for bass, leads, but also a variety of sounds. Easy to dial in patches or use the patch randomizer, plus a free patch bank or 2 in this forum.

    You probably already have Bilbao, because that's the obvious drum machine option. I loaded up on all the samplers last sale (Abu Dhabi, Sydney, and Vancouver--everything except for Stockholm, the REX player), but Bilbao can handle 90% of my drum and sample playback needs.

    I find Abu Dhabi pretty fiddly to use, but Sydney is great for sample cut-ups and Frippertronics and Vancouver is a nice, grungy sampler.

    Madrid just to have 'real' bass guitar sounds in Gadget. Gladstone seems cool, but I opted for Osaka via Korg Module, because I really like the Wild Kits IAP. And with the Drum Essentials, that's a lot more kits than Gladstone, which unlike Osaka, doesn't do layers, if I'm not mistaken.

    I'm not too stoked about the other synths, apart from the standalone ones.

    Module...that's another story. I just wanna grab them all.

    They’re excellently made. Beep Street is very good at making synths. I say this as a developer with experience with DSP.

    Both Dagger and Zeeon have done a great job modeling the kinds of non-linearities that make a synth sound real. They go above and beyond what’s normal and you can hear it. They don’t just throw the standard tanh waveshaping function at it and call it a day. They model the behavior of diode saturation, PSU noise, etc.

    Emulating filters is hard. It’s one of the most math intensive parts of making a synth. There are some fairly popular synths on iOS that are just pulling in open source filters. I won’t name any names because it’s legitimately flipping hard to make a good filter, and there’s no harm is using open source stuff. But Dagger and Zeeon both have multiple meticulously emulated filters using zero delay feedback. That’s tricky to do, and you don’t see it very often on iOS.

    The oscillators in Zeeon also have some wonderful trickery going on under the hood that makes them sound great under heavy modulation. It goes well beyond what’s normal.

    So in short, Dagger sounds awesome and has a great user interface. I don’t love Zeeon’s UI quite as much, but it sounds even better.

    Dang it! I already got DRC to balance off Tera Pro and SynthMaster 2 with a simpler subtractive synth, but this got me thinking. DRC sounds great and is easy to use, but the interface isn't the most exciting...

    I’m currently on the free trial of Korg Module Pro and currently trying it in Korg Gadget. I just noticed that in Salzburg and Montreal, there’s no option to select the piano’s variation. Is switching programs/presets the only way to do this in Gadget?

    As an acid phreak, I much prefer Zeeon’s sound, but Dagger’s malleable palette is deeply analog, which means short distance to interesting results. Not sure I need any BeepStreet plugin other than Drambo, but it’s probably a great way to encourage development.

    @Squishy yeah the app's free but there's paid features like the auto slicer. The app looks cool but the features to fade in, fade out, etc don't seem to work for me (visually I see the audio data changing but there's no sound difference). Plus I already have the fully fledged out Koala (all the IAP) so apart from the cool memorizer feature I don't see how I would benefit from having Dawnbeat. Everything else seems a bit worse than Koala

    Ahhhh, so like the mixer/samura IAP in Koala. Gotcha, thanks! (And same in regards to Koala. Def considered trying out Dawnbeat if free, but will pass if stuff is locked behind payments [used to be free, missed my window I guess])

    I’m tempted to pick up one of the korg ielectribe apps, specifically the Gorillaz themed one (Doug’s demo made it look like a blast to use and tho it’s probably a silly purchase I just really love older Gorillaz stuff hehe). I’m reading a lot of various ielectribe reviews saying that it’s been abandoned for years. Dealbreaker? Anyone run into issues that make them unusable?

    I grabbed it for the same reason. Hobbyist who used to like Gorillaz and KORG getting it for fun. Haven’t done much with it yet but I love how stylized it is. I’ll chuck it in a folder with Chantlings and Dronage as software toy instruments.

    Highly recommend this at this price point. What an epic deal.

    I bought it, pretty interesting but the interface is kind of a battle (I use it in Drambo). I try to scroll/expand/collapse to get a better overview of settings as it seems half of the UI is hidden hidden the other half.

    @Meek3 if you want to just use it as a regular Daw it's not that steep. Just load a demo project and figure out how everything is structured without worrying about the actual modules. Drambo only gets crunchy if you get into building your own patches like modular synths and big FX processor chains. But if you're mostly using AUV3 modules inside it, Drambo is pretty simple and powerful.

    I'm learning Drambo for the last 1-2 months and I actually found it easier than other hosts for basic stuff. Everything is there from the get go. The sequencer is already there, the basic effects and modulators like LFOs are easier to setup. If you're into mapping parameters from an AUv3 for external modulation, this is very easy and well done. Automations are very accessible as well.

    As it's been said, it gets more complicated when entering the modular realm, but it's due to modularity itself, not Drambo.

    It’s an easy host. Getting into it’s modular stuff, that’s something else.. but you don’t have to.

    It’s an easy host. Getting into it’s modular stuff, that’s something else.. but you don’t have to.

    You can set it to always show the full interface, or switch to the half view based on scaling. For the latter there’s a toggle next to the preset bar. At certain size/shape combos the UI does get funky though.

    I'm still waiting for it to go on sale, and am preventing myself from buying anything else until it does. Which is hard, but I can't keep letting myself get away with that, and by golly I better not catch myself stepping out of line or I'm really going to give it to myself good.
