SOLVED: Behringer UMC1820 works on ipad mini 5 but extremely low volume input on ipad 9
Using Behringer UMC1820 with a powered hub, cck, into one of the ipads, both running the latest ipadOS 18.2
I use the exact same setup and just exchanged the ipad yet I cannot get input levels beyond -70db with the ipad 9, while everything works fine with my ipad mini 5.
The ipad 9 recognizes the interface, sound output is fine, midi output is fine. But audio input is dampened down by -70db, even when I see on the interface that the input is clipping. I then plug the usb hub into the mini 5 and all inputs are at normal levels.
Previously I had a similar problem with another Behringer interface (umc404) where the input was permanently capped at -30db. I sent it in, Thomann didnt find any issues, they sent it back to me and it had worked without any problem ever since.
Edit: the input gain setting in AUM was set to 50% on the ipad 9, although I have never touched that setting and have freshly restored a backup from the ipad mini onto the ipad 9. weird. I have now set the setting to 100% on both devices and everything seems to work now.

I have a umc 404 and the volume setting on the iPad was of influence on the input volume. So allways turn the iPad volume all the way up
Yes with my setup the iPad volume has to be almost on max to hear anything. But the problem here was the input volume.
