Randomize the order of loop playback

I'm new to this app/forum. I was hoping you guys could save me a lot of time.

Can I have, say, a group of verse loops (different performances of the same chord progression) that, on the gig, will playback in random order? And then I'd like a group of chorus ones that etc.

Thank you and I love you for not RTFMing me,
Mark

  • And obviously I'd want the verse ones to play to the exclusion of the chorus ones and vice versa. But I already assumed that's possible.

I don't think you can do this at the moment. And I don't know if it's in the new version to be released soon. But a workaround would be to have a midi sequencer produce some random notes and then midi map each loop to be triggered by one of those notes. I guess you'd need two instances, one for each group. Not sure which would be best, maybe something like Autony?

  • There’s no such feature in Loopy Pro, but there are ways to achieve it. A midi sequencer that can send random notes within a range, or. StreamByter or Mozaic script could be made to do so.

Then it’s just a matter of mapping the midi messages to triggering play on the loops.

I’m reasonably sure there is a feature request for something like this on the loopy pro roadmap site. It would be worth checking there to see if there’s one you can upvote, or adding one if not.

That would be a very useful feature. I guess a clip action that would play a random clip amongst the one you choose.

You could use something like mozaic or streambyter to generate randomized choices. Loopy Pro itself doesn’t have a randomizer at the moment.
