JWM - Oney Ianbrey (Ambient done in Cubasis 3)
And here is my tribute to Brian Eno (with a title in Pig Latin 😂 , which is pretty dumb and unclever 🤣). I produced this in Cubasis 3 a couple days ago and originally planned to release it on my "Heavenly" EP, but honestly I can't wait to release these tracks on an EP any longer, lol. I'm too impatient. Besides, I want to share this piece of music with everyone.
Produced in Cubasis 3. I can't remember everything I did, but I used that recently-added Lofi Piano in Cubasis. (The timbre changes subtly throughout the entire piece by the reduce parameter degrading the sound more and more as the piece progresses. A bit of a nod to tape degrading over time. The bass is Micrologue. The choir sound is from Module Pro's "Mellow" pack as a nod to a couple pieces from "Music for Airports". I forgot the name of the bell sound (I think it was "Balanese Bells" or something like that from the "Ethnic" section of the Halion IAP), driven by Harmony Bloom. I used Stratosphere Cloud reverb for the reverb send.
The mastering chain is the usual Doctor Vibe, Grand Finale 2, Brickwall limiter set to -1dB to catch any stray peaks, and Youlean's Loudness Meter (my goto source to get things flowing around -14 LuFS, give or take since Ambient tends to be a very dynamic genre of music).
All in all, I really enjoyed making this piece. I hope you enjoy listening to it. Cheers and enjoy. 😃

Great job again, @jwmmakerofmusic 'Music for Airports' is my all times favorite of Eno.
Thank you mate. Yes, "Music for Airports" is my favourite too, although "Reflection" is my favourite of Eno's more recent releases from the past 10 years. (I remember when "Reflection" was first released. That was 8 years ago! Fuck I'm old. 😂 )
Nice! I actually think this is a bit more melodic than Eno. I’m hearing a five note theme, almost a melody. I like how you repeated it with different instruments. It establishes this as a JWM composition, as opposed to an anonymous series of random sounds. I like how the bass fades in and gradually develops into a pulsing beat. I found myself nodding my head to it. One nod for every four beats. I like the key changes in the bass. They come in at just the right time. When the bass fades out you brought in several layers of bells and sound effects that took me in a new direction to the ending.
Regarding the mix, I found it to be a bit hot. It could just be my headphones, but I don’t think so. I spent more than I care to admit on these puppies. They are absolutely dead flat response. I asked a couple engineer-type guys to play a few of my mixes on some high end monitors, and they don’t report any issues. The apps are cool, but the end result is the main thing. The technology is just a tool. However, I will say that the Cubasis Channel Strip has been very useful.
When I first started this hobby, I read a lot of articles by “experts” that said final mixdowns must be at very specific levels. I followed that advice for a year or so. One day I just said fuck it, and started mixing to my own comfort level. When I listen to some of my old stuff I think… WTF! Now I say, if it’s not loud enough, turn up your headphones! I set the volume on my iPad to four notches down from max, and haven’t changed it for years.
Anyway, I’m starting to ramble and dinner’s ready. Best wishes for 2025. I believe good things are coming soon. Time will tell. Peace.
Peace, mate. I actually did master this piece to roughly -14LuFS. And there's plenty of headroom in the final master.
Perhaps it's Doctor Vibe's compressor that I ran a bit hot on the master channel. 😅 I really like that effect where it brings out the tail of the reverb. But perhaps for the next piece, I will set it to 5% rather than 10%. That way it sounds a bit smoother.
Anyways, what's for supper for you tonight? I just had one portion of this bomb af chicken dish (it's chicken thighs seasoned with Lipton's Golden Onion Soup mix), fingerling potatoes (golden and purple/blue), and flash frozen green beans (the original recipe called for canned green beans, but honestly f-ck that. They taste better fresh!) All cooked in one cup of chicken broth (one of the staples in my fridge lol).
Anyways, thanks for the compliments and feedback, my friend. I will say that Brian Eno's "Music for Airports 1/1" is definitely more melodic, and my piano riff is a little bit of a spinoff of that.
Pig latin is completely appropriate for an Enossification. Remember Tzima N'arki?
That AI rendering of him is creepy as hell.
The numbers don't lie. Definitely plenty of headroom, as seen in Audioshare. It's probably just a matter of personal preference. I may just be perceiving the high end as loudness. Probably why I don't do this for a living.
Dinner sounds good. Lots of healthy, tasty stuff. I agree about the beans. Looking forward to picking some up at the farm stand this summer. Nothing special for dinner on our end. It was a prepared meal in a bag. Easy to make and tasted pretty good, with some leftovers for lunch today.
I think you're onto something with your new direction in music. I'll check in from time to time to compare notes. Have a good one!
Another enjoyable track Jim, you’re in good form at the moment 👌
Thank you so kindly, my cherished friend. I really love this genre of music. It can be expressed in many different subgenres, as many subgenres as there are Ambient producers matter of fact. 😂 But hey, that's all cool.
