Teenage Engineering copyright strike on Bad Gear

edited January 4 in Other

Seems they did not like Florian’s review of Medieval and issued a copyright strike because they own the samples. That puts a very bad president. So technically no one can negatively review any of their samples based products because they will lay a copyright claim that you used their samples.

What a crappy anti consumer company.

So yeah, yesterday I lamented selling my OP-1 Field. This video popped up in my Youtube feed this morning and I watched it while having breakfast. I was shocked and thought to myself "well I'm glad I don't have that device anymore". 😅 (I mainly miss the workflow of committing things to audio and editing further from there. However, I'm able to get sort of close to that workflow with my M-Vave SMK-25 and Cubasis.)

I came here to share the video and saw you already did. And I agree 100%. An anti-consumer company, and an elitist one at that. 🙄

    OP-1 Field - $2000

An iPad Mini 7 with 512gb, Cubasis 3 and its IAPs, and an SMK-25 - Roughly half that price. 😂

Edit: Looks like the original video above was sensationalism and fake news.

  • I feel a little bad for the guy, but it was up to him to do the research instead of going in blindly like he did. Yes he's a bit dramatic in this video, but people sending him threats and texting his unlisted number is definitely beyond the pale. He made a mistake, like any human being is prone to do.

That said, yeah TE's license agreement is pretty stupid, so it's still an anti-consumer company in my own personal opinion. Ymmv, blah blah blah.

  • The plot thickens. Now another Youtuber got a copyright strike (rather than claim ) on their video simply for making fart noises over a TE product video. While juvenile indeed, it falls under Fair Use, no? TE are definitely anti-consumer and out for blood for whatever godforsaken reason.

Actually, what you have is another YouTuber saying stuff about T.E. without actually contacting them to get any FACTS.

Lazy journalism. But, of course, YouTubers like this are not journalists. They are just people saying anything old thing to get likes and subs...

Then again, most journalism these days is sensationalist and lazy, even outside of Youtube. 😂
