AUM MIDI Learn Trick - Fast / Quick / Easy by using MIDIDelay

This is a technique that I used recently to use MIDI Learn between modules in AUM. I'm sure there are many ways to do this same sort of thing with other tools, but I'm not aware of a way to do it without a helper app.

AUM MIDI Learn Trick - Fast / Quick / Easy by using MIDIDelay

  • Cool trick, thank you

  • Thanks; I wonder why AUM would respond to midi learn one way and not the other?
Hey, while you're at it, how about doing an explanation of MidiDelay? That could use it. His apps are meager on info. I've tried using it now and then and like it but some parts of the UI are mysterious.

Welcome. The reason the MIDI Learn doesn't work in the manner that I'm showing it in the video is that the learn doesn't remain active when the focus is switched to another node in AUM. I'm not aware of a way of preventing that, so using MIDIDelay just works around the behavior.

Regarding MidiDelay, yes - I'd like to do a video on that, but I need to spend more time with it first. I use one of his other apps, Takeamidi, for all sorts of stuff, and I am hoping to create a video for that one soon. I think both of those apps fly under the radar a bit - they're really powerful.

    That's clever. 👍🏼
    Nice video too.

I think I'm missing what that improves over simply entering the CC value in the mapping screen. I'm sure there must be something for you to go through the work to set it up. I'm a light AUM user, so I probably haven't run across the use-case.
