Thoughts on GSN Composer (Modular Synth- Online Web Application)

I had recently just learned about GSN Composer when I was using CardBoard Synth. Both are Online Web Applications that you use with the browser. So you can use Cardboard Synth patches in GSN as a sequencer. Upon entering the GSN Composer page to sequence or attempt to sequence my Cardboard patch sound, I was surprised to find out it’s a free online Modular Synth that uses nodes and a never ending graph. It looks like it’s more than just a Modular Synth. You can add things like image and 3d processing and whatever else. I really only care for the Modular Synth, but there’s clearly more to it. Like with Cardboard Synth I believe you can use other programs like other synths and instruments as well, seen from the examples link, I’ll post them. I just found out about it and freshly new and don’t know where to begin. Has anyone used it yet and what are your thoughts. I would like to know if it works well with IOS devices.

Awesome find. Love a good free web app. Thanks.

First time I’ve seen this one. I have a ton of different ones bookmarked.

It’s a bit tricky on iPhone, but looks like a great free modular web app for all.

Update - there are a ton of options here.

  • Cardboard synth is dope. It has its own record and export, as well as patch randomization.

I just randomized and tweaked a few patches, used the on site recording to record 13 notes, C3-C4. Easily downloaded and shared to AudioShare. Now I have a great sample to be sliced, or cut up into individual note samples.

Cardboard Synth is a cool find indeed. Sez it won't work on my old Mac with Safari, but works great.

I don't see much point in exploring a web based DAW or synth when I have standalone ones, but it's really cool to see what can be accomplished.
