Steinburg ur44
Hello I’m sure this has been asked before but i don’t seem to be able to find the answer? I’ve just purchased the Steinburg ur44 thinking it would be a upgrade from my komplete audio 6 as it only has 4 inputs (not including the spdif as I have nothing that works with this) and it’s supposed to be plug and play and my ipad doesn’t recognise it at all? I’m running ios18 iPad Pro m1, cheers guys.

It's very old. I had a friend who was gifted one of these and it didn't work anywhere, not even his PC. Not very helpful, sorry.
Thanks buddy that’s all I needed to know to send it back!
If you buy Steinberg than only the C-Series like the UR44C. Its not bad, is class compliant (works with IOS) and has a control app (IOS) DSPmixfx-URC.
I have it (and others 🙈) and i am pretty satisfied with it.
Thanks buddy I’ll check it out.
Regarding the UR44C I'd like to ask how to connect it with a loopy pro iPad, so the audio then goes to a Windows based PC with OBS for streaming on Twitch. And would it still be possible to operate the interface DSP via the DSPmixfx-URC installed on the PC? Any advice there? Thanks in advance.
What model iPad? Does it have a headphone jack?
With just the one interface, your best bet is going to be using a headphone splitter cable to send the iPad headphone output into two of the line inputs on the UR44C which will be plugged into the PC via USB. From there, assuming you can route the output from the UR44C into OBS, you should be good.
Something like this should work: https://a.co/d/8OJ5rus
If your iPad doesn't have a headphone jack, then the Apple USB-C or Lightning headphone adapter will suffice.
Hi, thanks for the quick answer. The iPad still needs to be bought as the old one has a smashed display. Also, if the audio gets from the iPad to the interface using a headphone line and the interface USB is plugged into the PC, how does the audio from the mic and keyboard plugged into the interface get into the iPad?
I guess the solution would be to plug the interface to the iPad using this adapter

and then use the headphone output from the iPad to route the audio to the PC but not really sure.
I missed the part where you wanted to connect the interface to the iPad. I thought you just wanted to send Loopy Pro's output to the PC.
The interface connected to the iPad, with headphone out to the PC may not work out for you. The audio would be mono and you'd have no use of the DSPmixfx-UR, or whatever it is on the PC. If those two things are acceptable then you could experiment with a stereo or mono 1/8" male/male TRS cable out from the UR44C to the mic input on the PC.
An iConnectivity Audio 4c or Lewitt Connect 6 are the best for routing between two devices. Or, you could use two interfaces, one plugged into the iPad and one into the PC.
You could try to monkey around with Sonobus if latency into OBS isn't a big deal. Latency and occasional "crackles" can be a problem over WiFi though. It's better over an ethernet cable with a USB ethernet adapter on the iPad. They're not too expensive, but then you also need a hub, etc, and you will still have some latency.
I see. Alright then. I will play with it and see what happens. Again, thanks for the advice, you're very kind.
I have the UR44 and lightning to USB C adapter with a 2018 iPad Pro 11 on iOS 16.6. Running fine, the Steinburg recognizes my iPad immediately.
Can anyone else on iOS 18 confirm that the Steinburg won’t see the iPad with that version?
Don’t want to update and be left in a lurch. Thanks for any responses.
Internet search wasn’t much help.
I’m going to upgrade to a new pro sooner than later which probably means a new interface as well but I want to keep this one active and demote my Air2.
