This looks interesting, though the little JR-wizard in the middle of the spectrogram is a weird and slightly off-putting design choice.
Does anyone have experience with the original version?
lol...:)
back from the grave...:) and still ugly...
no demos... not even audio!?
I have a very short audio demo and giveaways on my Twitter and Insta. Haven't dug in much and don't have time to, atm, but it seems pretty cool. MPE implementation seems legit, and overall, the way of assigning modulation looks well thought out
Yeah I don’t know why that dude thinks his likeness needs to be on everything he’s involved with. It’s honestly kept me from buying several apps.
I've only gone through a few presets so far and its gone 4 in the morning here so perhaps I should wait till tomorrow before gushing over it. But so far I'd say there are some excellent presets included and its very, very playable indeed. I will try it with an MPE controller over the weekend. I'm also looking forward to experimenting with the built in sample recording.
Hopefully my first impression that it has the potential to be right up there in terms of expressive instruments, and an instant classic of this genre, holds true.
Hmm I’ll wait to hear some demos of this.
Are there new presets, or are they the same as the original?
one question for the ppls who bought/use it already:
it MORPHS (spectral morphing) btw 4 samples
or it volume fades !?!?!
thnx
Definitely not regular cross fades but rather morphs between FFT Tables that are generated from the imported/recorded samples meaning time-sensitive samples retain their original speed while being transposed.
@johnfromberkeley Can't find any of the old presets in the new app if that helps?

There's also quite a lot of raw material included for creating user presets...
Similar to Cube Synth Pro then. Cube is additive and you can’t import your own waveforms though.
can or can't import/analyze user samples?
thnx
It can import and record samples and has built-in sample-editor that does the basics quite nicely.
thanks Samu!
real help
This is the sample editor once you've recorded or imported a sample.

The purple handles set the 'start & end' (which set the area to crop for the crop tool) and green handles set the 'loop portion' Loop Rev is in practice ping-pong while forward is regular forward loop). Most actions are non-destructive except crop.
The sample retains its speed regardless of the playback pitch as all pitch-shifting is done in the spectral domain.
It was a blast to do beta on this even though it took quite awhile before it got out into the public
(I may have missed a few things as it's a fairly complex app).
For those with degraded eye-sight like myself the 'Always Expand Larger' in the cog-wheel menu might be a welcome addition and I always disable to blobby to avoid distractions...
Cheers!
Thanks. I love designing my own patches, but I also like studying presets. So, it looks like I’m gonna buy this.
AlWAYS with this guy!!
got it and I'm mindblown!
the engine is wild!!!! even the fx and so good and well currated...
the interface is usable functionally. not the preetiest around...:)
really good for mad creative experiments.
I’m going to restart my iPad (restarted and still have the same problem) - right now if I tap on the name of the type of distortion in FX1, the app crashes. Standalone AND/or using the AU.
I can scroll through the different distortion types with the left/right arrows fine, and that’s a workaround for now. But I need to report this.
Is there a bug report link in here somewhere?
And is this happening to anyone else? Seems like if this was BETA tested properly, they would have caught this problem.. it can’t just be me.
Oh my device is an iPad Pro 12.9” M1 w/1TB (16GB RAM)
Someone please test and confirm
edit: @Samu ?
Report it to the developer...
...In the meanwhile use the arrows to switch the mode of the distortion.
(This is a 'new one' as I went thru all the controllers in the latest beta before release, the next update should fix it).
Any videos showing it off out yet ?
I will later. I’m at work all day today and don’t have time to look for his email.
Just wondering if anyone else saw this issue or if it was just me
Just released this video, there is no talking but I do a lot of tweaking, it's pretty straightforward so I think you'll get how it works without me yammering on.

Thanks for that. Seems cool, I remember loving the first one. Wish it did not have that cartoony design though.
Dang! That was quick!
Sent an email to the dev, he replied within just a few hours and has an update on the AppStore with a fix!
How unique is this synth? Other than the apparently great MPE implementation
Not unique enough for me, some sound are impressive on some registers (low) but always waaay too loud, I lowered the app master volume to -19 on one preset and it still show red in AUM. Big why?
I also think it, like so many of these, sound very similar from preset to preset with a few exceptions - of course.
What really tip the scale for a refund are the cartoons, I can't stand them here, (same as with AudioKit) or anywhere.
Maybe I change my mind if some things change, it was nice to try it.
Have to agree!
While I did have some fun taking it for a long, extended beta-spin the UI never really 'spoke' to me so I ended up primarily focusing on the core functionality and a layout related things...
The UI could have been 'modernized' and the 'beard-branding' could have been removed as it is (to Me) highly annoying...
...and the 'Blobby' annoyed Me so much (and 'heated up' the M1 iPadPro like crazy) so I had to ask for an option to completely disable it in order to be able to continue testing the app...
There is a nice amount of source material available for user preset creation which unfortunate isn't extensively used by the built-in presents...
I have also forwarded some sound-design related requests (like being able to control the 'scan speed' of the created 'FFT Tables') which would allow basic time-stretching of the source material among other things.
We'll have to wait and see how things develop as it's doing quite well on the AppStore at the moment so apparently it has reached some of the 'target audience'
Cheers!
Thank you both for the reply!!
An MPE sampler that can morph between audio files should be an instant purchase for me, but what I’ve heard in the limited vids available doesn’t sound particularly impressive. As for that UI…
Hopefully they’ll take on board user feedback, but for now that potential instant purchase is on hold.
