the condition is that I dont have a network around,
I want to link one to controll the other via bluetooth...

any ideas how I can do that?
anyone here did it and has this setup used in live acts...!?

One device can send Bluetooth to the other. Advertise Bluetooth from one device and the other device will see it. You can advertise from the bluetoith connections of many hosts or in MidiMttr

AUM allows you to send bluetooth to another and I'm sure lots of other hosts can too. Back in 2019 I used to use two iPads live and use the Korg nanoKey/Kontrol Studios to send MIDI to both of them! I can't remember my exact set up but there are many possibilities with this.

    I ll try!

I made a video doing pretty much what you’re trying to do. The little iPad on the right is being used at a controller running LK in AUM sending MIDI CC through Bluetooth to AUM on the main iPad. Checkout the video description for how I set it up.

  • thanks reezygle!!!!

  • Check out MIDIDesigner Pro as well. Especially if you’re going to dedicate an older iPad to just use as a controller.
I’m using an ancient OG air for this. It’s painful to author on old iPads, but you can build the control surface on a modern/fast one and airdrop it to the dedicated one.

TouchOSC doesn't have its own Bluetooth connection dialog. However, once you establish a connection with Midimittr, AUM, Loopy Pro, Drambo ... almost every other app ... TouchOSC recognizes it as a regular midi connection.

Keep in mind that two-way feedback isn't supported by may apps. So once you commit to a control surface, stick to making changes only on the control surface, otherwise the surface and the app will be out of sync with each other. Also, even if an app does support controller feedback, not all dump their settings on a session or preset load.

It's best to work with a host that supports "pickup/takeover" mode. If not then when the control surface and the app are out of sync you won't get jumps when you touch the control.

    Subscription.
(Unless you got grandfathered in when they made the change or the features of the free version are enough for your purposes.)

Surface Builder is a somewhat less capable, but non-subscription based alternative that's also AUv3 or standalone.

Yea, that was one stupid move on their part. And it’s still pretty ugly and kind of a pain in the ass to use…
