Best drum kit layout for sequencers - looking for input to create templates
I'm working on some custom drum kit mappings for Octachron, Helium, MidiStep, and a couple other apps that I'm going to share out. The MIDI note mappings may vary between the app and the destination obviously, but I wanted to get some input on the order of the pads/rows. I've looked around and there seems to be some common practices like putting the Kick at the top or bottom of the list, but there's a lot of variation on other kit pieces. I want the drum mapping presets to have the widest possible appeal, and I know a lot of people here do drum sequencing and have created their own presets and layouts, and what works for you may work for others.
Here's a couple pics from Logic Pro using the Drum Machine Designer and Pattern editor just to give a visual example.
**Edit: I'm looking to create layouts in rows like this, with maybe up to 16 rows max.
Kick
Snare
Hi-Hat
Tom
..etc..
