Can you record audio from standalone apps (not AU) with AUM?

Newbie question I guess. I ofte, prefer using standalone apps for the screen estate, rather than the AU version. Having the app full screen or split screen when available.

Is there a way to record audio from standalone apps with AUM?

If they support Inter-App Audio (IAA). Check if the app you want shows up under the "External > Inter-App Audio" heading when adding a source to an AUM audio channel. If so then you can add it and record its audio. The app's State (preset and settings) won't be save with the AUM session, but you'll be able to record.

Usually its a good idea to start the standalone app outside of AUM before trying to add it.

Oh, and also be sure that "background audio" is enabled in the standalone app if such a setting is available.

This may not work forever. Apple has deprecated IAA technology.

They said they prefer the real estate of the full app. But can’t u load it in aum and maximize it to essentially the full app size?

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't know if you meant that by way of an answer, or if you had a separate question.

I think they were asking mostly about standalone apps that don't have an AUv3 counterpart and didn't know how to add those into AUM.

They said they prefer standalone to the au version that’s why i thought it was an option. All good

thanks a lot, I'll check if my main apps can be added to AUM as Inter-App-Audio! :)
