The MPC just keeps getting doper!

  • Gonna up date to tonight
Been a great ride so far

  • They’ve taken away a key feature. Clips. I used that in live jams. Basically for me, MPC is no longer a good option for live performances. Yeah I can downgrade but what’s the point. Now I’m thinking about selling it.

  • Ok
    Fair play
I don’t do live play. I just make my beats on it, but I can see where you’re coming from
They still haven’t dealt with odd time signatures either

  • Time signatures and clips don’t necessarily affect what I do with the MPC, but I definitely hope they bring em into the workflow!
I do clips in Logic Pro iPad and in the Akai Force…so I never really tried it on the MPC. I can see it being very good live! Odd time signatures, are interesting to me, but I’ve mostly been a 4/4 guy to date. If they bring that, I’ll get to try new stuff! Exciting.

  • Don’t get me wrong. It’s still fun making stuff on it. But they’ve made it more of a DAW in a box. I already have many DAWs in a box. And the box is called iPad. The hardware tactile experience in live performances is key. Tactile experience during music production is not something that interests me as much.

I’m just curious about their thought process in removing such a feature. On the surface it seems like it’s simple enough to keep.

In the MPC 3 release notes, they indicate they are working on time signatures…

It’s interesting to read the numerous changes they have made, particularly to keygroups.

I have to say I’m with you on the “why not just keep it in there”. I agree!

Cool transparent info - I don’t think i am going to buy anything but it would be really cool to see odd time signatures available / or even time sig changes in this …

    Anyway enjoy whoever cops

    Very cool

  • I’m finding 3.4 to be quite smooth and intuitive. I haven’t explored any NI expansions yet, just enjoying the internal plugins I purchased during the holidays: Jura, Sub Factory, and Mini D. I also feel like I understand the chord library better, so I’m building better loops. Cheers to Akai!

  • I am glad ni is part of the package
But in no rush to buy anything, especially after snagging a few bits over Xmas, Jura etc
Might even wait till next Xmas before anymore purchases

  • I am loving MPC 3.4 + NI:

  • I too love the NI synths…but do find the patch load times a bit lengthy…

Ah, can the NI plugins be stored in an external drive?
I wonder if it would load faster stored on a SSD?
I got one similar to the following to disk stream Neosoul Keys and Bassalicious 2 on my iPad:

Working between Arranger, Grid, and Song Mode is very productive. I made a demo beat to learn Song Mode:

  • I’ve stored the ni patches to internal ssd…load times are a bit longer than I feel they should be…it’s not horrid, but it’s definitely a choker
